True, but why would someone lie about it to a Rivals site.
I do know that Mississippi State has never had much problem getting basketball players cleared and eligible.

FWIW Shawn is on campus and taking his official visit to Mississippi State today. It is great timing because we are opening our new basketball practice facility this week, and Im sure he will be the first to get an official tour.
I like our chances of landing this kid.

I think the fact that he is from La and is talented has eliminated him from the LSU basketball staff's consideration. If he was an Eddie Ludwig clone I think Trent would have offered him a long time ago!

Why do I get the feeling Long will end up owning O'Bryant down the line

Even if he doesnt imagine how nice it would be if he does turn out to be an SEC caliber player playing alongside O'Bryant.
Of course that might interfere with Trent's philosophy of putting too many good players on the floor at the same time?

We steal the top big man from Mississippi, and MSU may out-recruit Grambling for a big man from Louisiana, and you work a duel slam of Trent Johnson AND Eddie Ludwig into the conversation. If the situation were reversed, you would be having a shite-fit.
LSU may or may not be looking at Long, I don't know. However, LSU is deep in the front court and has already offered several post players for 2012. That is likely more of a reason for Long's lack of an LSU offer.

Yea because Trent put so many talented guys on the floor last year it would be a stretch to think he would need more that may be actually able to play

You are making a lot of assumptions about Shawn Long. Malcolm White, Garrett Green and yes, Eddie Ludwig, were all higher rated and had better offers than Long coming out of high school.
LSU may in fact be recruiting him. He may in fact turn out to be a good, or even great, player. However, at this time, he is a spring-time gamble for any program that signs him. He could be the next Tyrus Thomas. He could be the next Dennis Harris.

Kid has offers from La-Tech, LA-Monroe, and Lafayette. He's better than SWAC. We aren't recruiting him to come in and be an impact player. We have Sidney and Moultrie back along with Lewis. I think this kid will be a role player who will be a good fit at Mississippi State down the road.

True but we know that White and Green are backups at best and Ludwig is a stiff! I think there is a decent chance Long could be better than that. Of course Trent has got his one big time player in O'Bryan and based on the fact that he has brought in one SEC caliber player in his first three classes combined I guess he feels he doesnt need anymore. Of course getting outrecruited for a pg by Oklahoma and Nebraska hasnt helped either.

You obviously get all of your information from this website. Now that I know that, I can proceed with ignoring you. People who regurgitate incorrect information are not worth my time.

My thought all along is that we are likely just going for Gathers to compliment Hamilton and JO'B and that is it for the front court.
I'm hoping we just aren't that interested. I really really really hate to imagine that Trent missed this kid right under his own nose if he's as good as you are thinking he may be.

Not sure how good he is I do know that Green and White are limited backups at best and Ludwig is a stiff. So even if O'Bryan and Hamilton turn out both to be very good you can always use talented depth. Of course if O'Bryan lives up to clippings and Hamilton plays like he did ot Iowa St we definitely could use another talented frontcourt player as well.
Of course Bubba Hotep seems to be pretty far up Trent's rear so am sure he could give you a lowdown on the kid and why we couldnt sign either of the two point guards we lost out on!

I have only seen highlights, so it's tough to make an informed opinion. We will see. It's wierd that he lacks quality offers, but he's got something holding him back.
LSU has also offered PF Troy Jones of Peabody for next year.

Dont you think with Green a senior and very lacking as a post presence and White so limited offensively, O'Bryant being a freshman,Hamilton being a transfer and unknown whether he can play in the SEC and Ludwig not being a legit option it might be wise to add another big man into the mix? I mean LSU is so lacking in talent all over but especially in the frontcourt! O'Bryant and Hamilton may change that but that is only two guys!

obvious troll is obvious.
like Bubba said, if we did in fact offer and sign a player who had ZERO major offers and only offers from the likes of UL-directionals he would be on here going off on trent.

Yes, it's funny how that works. Bitch about signing O'Bryant, because some analysts were a little critical of him, and then bitch because we are not going toe-to-toe with Grambling and Southern for Long.
Regardless of anyone's opinion of LSU's frontcourt players, it is highly doubtful that Long would get much time ahead of anyone on the team next year, including Jalen Courtney (who also had a better offer sheet than Long and was rated higher).
However, it is not the comparison with Green, White, etc., that matters, it is the comparison with the recruits LSU hopes to sign next year. Any recruits signed this year, will be scholarships not available next year. It appears that LSU's coaching staff thinks that Gathers and Troy Jones are better than Long.

You can call me all the names you like but since the players he has recruited been have losing to the directionals it is not like he can do much worse!

Bubba you usually seem knowledgable about badketba. What's up with the hate on Shawn Long? Kid has better offers than what you keep putting (Grambling and Southern).
