Payton Era Draft Picks

At the time of the draft which 1st Rd Pick did you think was best? Which one worst? Same thing out of the other rounds?
I go positive on Ellis cuz I thought he was good value that met the need. Meachem was my biggest disappointment. I wanted TE Greg Olsen. Out of the rest, last year was really exciting to get Graham at that spot and equally that they traded back in for Tennant cuz I thought he had a 2nd-3rd grade. Mehlhaff seemed like a desperate reach even in the 5th. He wasn't that good.

Worst 1st round is Robinson...but it's still early. Best pick overall is obviously Colston.
OL picks have been pretty solid.

not a scoring of picks, more how you felt at the time when the pick was announced, 1st Rd, then all the others

Like everyone, Reggie we THOUGHT was the best...no doubt.
Malcolm will probably wind up having the best career of them all though.

Best - Reggie with out a Doubt. I thought he was going to be unstoppable.
Worst - Meachem

Look how many studs they picked up in 2006.
Definitely thought Reggie was the best at the time. Everyone thought he was going to be a monster.
I was excited about big sed and Malcolm Jenkins as well. Mostly because I am a big fan of Jenkins and Big Sed's a beast.
Below the 1st round, I was most excited about Jimmy Graham. He's a superstar in the making.

LOVED the Reggie Bush pick.
Hated the Meachem pick. I wanted defense.
Loved the Ellis pick.
Liked the Jenkins pick.
Was indifferent to Robinson. I liked it for depth, but thought there was still good value on the board at other positions that we needed more.

Sedrick Ellis was easily the biggest no-brainer of a pick. We needed help big time and we got good bang for our buck considering what we were supposedly willing to give up for Dorsey.
Meachem was the worst pick at the time given who was available and our gaping needs on defense and at TE (I remember Miller was still there and some LBs).

Loved the Meachem pick strangely enough and hated the Bush pick.

biggest steal= colston
best pick= jenkins ...one to think about though other than the obvious bigger names is morestead. the dude is a beast, and was put in position to be the key guy in arguably the most important special teams play in superbowl history
biggest dissapointment= though he has done a lot over the years and has had his moments of fame i gotta say bush
really want to see what Stanley Arnoux can do if he can stay healthy for an extended period of time

Reggie changed the culture and excitement surrounding the Saints. In some respects, that contribution is more beneficial than what he has done on the field (or not done on the field in some views)
Overall, solid group of talent. Hindsight is 20/20 and I think they have done very well comparatively to other NFL teams.

At the time, best Ellis b/c that was a great need
Disagreed most w/ Meachem
Anybody want to stroll through Memory Lane and remember Alex Molden...?

This can't be stressed enough. Not that NO needed much help to get excited for the Saints after Katrina, but he was HUGE lagniappe IMO.

If anyone says anything other than this, they are probably lying. NOLA celebrated big time when he fell to us.

In all honesty, these were probably the one's I thought were the best for the value of the pick. Shows what I know.

I probably disliked this one the most. I really wanted Greg Olsen, Joe Staley or Paul Posluszny.

The best thing about Molden was his insanely HAWT Wife/GF that use to come to esplanade mall and shop all the time when I worked there in HS.
