Time to ruin everyone's mood - some healthy suggestions for PMAN

I've decided to join the pain train and get on the weight loss wagon. I don't have a whole lot at the house right now so now would be a good time to make a grocery list and stock up on some good weight loss food.
It's only going to work if I still eat things that I like so I might as well get a few things out of the way.
-I don't particularly care for fruit so the first person that says "keep some fresh fruit around the house" can blow me. Well I can eat citrus and bananas. As far as apples, kiwi, berries, and all that other happy horse shite...keep it to yourself.
-I enjoy vegetables, particularly of the squash family so any ideas there might help.
-I enjoy fish every now and then but I'm allergic to any white flaky fish you can imagine and I refuse to eat tuna out of the can
-I'm game for any sort of animal or poultry protein and other fish so those might be good places to start
-I'm not really big on salads and about the only kind I can tolerate are probably terrible for me anyway. Unless it's something with spinach and a low fat balsalmic maybe...
Some other general questions:
-What should I do as far as using fat to cook with? Low fat cooking oil? Pam? (
) I don't do any really high temp frying of any sort but on occasion I'll brown something on about medium high so as long as it's good enough for that I'm good.
-What are some healthy fats that I can incorporate? I like avocados so that's a start. Some nuts to throw into my spinach salads maybe?
-I definitely need to ween myself off of the amount of dairy I consume. I suppose making the switch to skim milk might be step number 1.
I'll welcome any and all ideas except for the ones that I don't like.

I wonder if I should do atkins. I could really do without carbs for about 6 weeks or so.
I might cave in after that though

do you eat breakfast every day?
IMO, the keys to weight loss have nothing to do with what you eat, but how you eat. eating breakfast is essential to weight loss. from there ,multiple smaller meals is the key. you can still have a rather defined lunch and dinner, but proper snacking in between will keep your hunger at bay, allowing you to better control your portions at lunch and dinner. eating slowly is a big one as well. try making it a habit to put your fork and knife down for a few seconds after every bite, and you will find you fill up on less food.

Try the Kraft mayo with Olive Oil. It's half the calories and tastes decent.

Mustard is a good sub for mayo IMO. But I do love mayo on a turkey/ham sandwich.... Non fat mayo is just gross

Pman, for my turkey/ham
i use a tiny bit of low fat mayo, add a bit of siracha, and crack some of this garlic over it. It's the McCormick kind that comes in a grinder.
Anyways, it makes for great flavor for sandwiches. Also, since you like avacado, put a few slice on your sandwich.

I'd prefer not to.

For sure.
For protein bonless/skinlees chicken thighs are the best flavor/health ratio for sure. Your allergy to certain seafood will make it tough. Nuts, dried dates, brown rice and things like trail mix really help in protein intake.

I might look into that and keep some at my desk at work. I don't snack at work and that might lead to me being hungrier in the evenings and wanting to eat 3000 calories of food and throw all my money down the toilet.

along with what bee rye said, I've been trying to kick my habit of grabbing a granola bar for breakfast and running out the door. Instead, I'll eat two packets of oatmeal. I get the "weight control" one - they seem to be more filling than the regular ones AND I definitely avoid putting most of the sugar stuff that settles at the bottom of the pack. You can mix in honey, cinnamon, and/or nuts and it helps to kick it up. I"m weird and I really like oatmeal, so I don't know if this will work for you if you don't like it. I find that it helps me resist getting a pastry or something really bad from a coffee shop mid-morning.
BTW, I'm a huge coffee person so a big change I've made is getting skim milk in my lattes and asking for sugar free syrup if I want a flavor

Yeah...I only drink coffee at work but man do I kill it...I started using splenda today and it tastes exactly the same to me.
I actually like the instant oatmeals and I can just use the hot water spigot at work to make it really quick. I think I might already have some stashed at work so I'll look into that. Might get something to kick it up a notch as you say.
Thanks for the advice

Just be careful - some of those prepared oatmeal packets have tons of sugar in them. I usually can separate most of it out when I'm pouring the oatmeal out. If you like sweets, honey needs to become your best friend. Also, some of my fav go-to snacks are ranch rice cakes (actually very good) and reduced fat string cheese

I just bought some Egyptian honey actually
Is honey really any healthier for you though? Doesn't it have the same sugar content as sugar? I was under the impression it was essentially pretty close to 80% sugar and 20% water
