I disagreed with his comment concerning the s.e.c. and defense. He said something to the effect that you have to have big plays on offense and you can't win with sustained drives.

I was at the game and haven't had a chance to watch the telecast, but if he said that, I agree with you.

LSU had important scoring drives in almost every victory where we gained all yardage on the ground.

I actually agree with what Todd said there. I think the longer the drive the more the advantage shifts to the defense in creating a turnover. He made that statement when pointing out how few big plays(20+ yds) LSU had on offense. I think he's one of the best out there along with Danielson, which someone already mentioned.

Context.
He was critiquing LSU's run/pass ratio of last season. He's right. SEC defenses are too good to plow over with running like we did in the Texas A.M. game.
Gotta have a middle/deep passing threat to keep defenses honest.
