General question:
Is it possible to stay on your same auto insurance plan once you are no longer a dependent and are living in a different state?
I am hoping to stay on my family's plan, if possible and just pay them my share of the insurance.

I know that some can't write policies across state lines. You will need to ask your insurer.

It's possible. I did for about a year after I graduated then I decided to get my own policy. It wasn't much difference since I didn't have a bad driving record.
