Why do people assume Ware is the #1 over Ford?

I assume they are going to be given roughly even carries unless one starts getting hotter than the other. I know he had a big Cotton Bowl and had that amazing halfback pass to RR against Auburn, but I'm not sure I see it.

It really doesn't matter who is #1 or #2. Both will get plenty of playing time and you can never have too many backs.
Don't forget about my boy Blue either.

Umm...Cotton Bowl rumbling? They'll get even splits, but Ford won't pass him(and I like Ford..)

That's what I'm saying. I think they'll both be #1. Kinda like how N. Carolina used J. Stewart and Dlo Williams 2 years ago.

I don't think either passes either unless one proves more worthy of the carries.

From what I saw, Ware did nothing but impress with his 7 ypc last year and the TD throw. On the flip side, Ford can get taken down in the backfield as soon as he gets hit, and for some reason, he was behind Alfred Blue on the depth chart last year, suggesting he was having some kind of difficulty with some of the concepts.

The fact that Ford was mentioned 4th after this last scrimmage behind Ware, Blue, and Gore might have something to do with it. Also, remember that Blue played before Ford last year.
Why do you assume that Ford is on equal footing with Ware???

Because when he actually got to play last year, he seemed like he did very well. But like I said, that wasn't often. I've never understood the whole doghouse thing, must just be lack of understanding the offense. But I don't see how after at least a year in the offense you still don't get it.
However, no matter what, I still can't wait for the season because I think we're gonna have one of the best stable of backs in the league.

He missed a curfew in Atlanta before the UNC game.

Ware, Ford, doesnt matter, they will both tote the rock....i really like ford, i just hope he doesnt get shafted like Keiland, something about Ford's running...think he could be a good one...I do like Ware as well though...I think were lucky to have both...

I don't like the fact that Ford seems tentative and goes down rather easily it seems.

I never thought that

Because as a true freshman he got much more preference in playing time that Ford did as a RSF, and made the most of his carries in the Cotton Bowl and down the stretch, and is also reported to be extending that advantage in spring ball..
What is not to get about that?

While some just assume this from the Cotton Bowl, others glean this from reading spring practice reports. Specifically, some sites focus on the order that the players at a position go through the drills, with the first guy presumably being the one at the top of the depth chart.
Recently (as in this week) one site quoted Miles as saying that at the running back spot, "the order" at the day's end was Spencer Ware, Alfred Blue, Jakhari Gore, and last was Michael Ford. Couple this with the fact that Miles has said virtually nothing about Ford this spring while specifically praising the other three, inferences tend to abound.

IMO, Ware is clearly the better back.

No the OP. I may have hit "post reply" to the wrong person.

In that case the whole team, its coaches, us fans, and all sports reporting agencies would have been in the doghouse! Hell, Crowton didn't even understand his own offense.

Ware was a higher rated prospect. The only reason people talk about him over Ware is because Ford is a La HS kid and they know him better. In limited action, Ware has looked better.
