Inspired by wryder1 and chicken's threads:

I went to LSU in the late nineties. There may be more but here are a few that would cause a modern day rant meltdown

- Any Lou Tepper sighting
- Dinardo going for 2 against Georgia when the XP tied it
- Most Josh Booty sightings but especially the Bama game when he got 'helicoptered' near the goal line
- Losing to every little sisters of the poor school in 99. I was so numb that season.

Dale Brown having Shaq, Jackson, Roberts, and Mo Williamson and winning exactly 1 NCAA tournament game would have gotten some run.

Hodson's INT against Ohio State late in the game at Tiger Stadium (that ended up in a tie) would have gotten Arnsparger roasted.

Hell, you think this board would have survived the Jamie Howard INT game vs. Auburn??

True. Although the UNLV and Loyola games would have gotten a little praise along the way.

LSU/Auburn in 1997. LSU has about 377 rushing yards in the game. Cecil took over the stadium like I had never seen before. LSU has 3rd and 1 from the 50 and a first down ices the game. Dinardo thought it would be better to have Herb Tyler roll out on a run pass option as opposed to running the Diesel who was averaging about 8 yds per carry.

Lets just say I fired Dinardo and my girlfriend on that night.

After further thought...seriously, how chaotic would this place have been for the Howard INT game in 1994? There would have been Apple computers blowing up all over town...

Pretty much the entire football decade of the 90's outside of 95-97, although the loss to ole miss in 1997 and throttling by notre dame would have caused quite the meltdown.

Bert Jones having to split time with Paul Lyons under Cholly Mac's 2QB system despite being the superior QB.

At least that's the way I remember it, but, I was young. I'm sure Jones got more snaps than Lyons but, I remember Lyons getting several series' a game, not just one in each half.

The one second blues-Bert Jones to Davis (I think) against Ole Miss in (I want to say) '72. Oh, I may be relying too much on memory. YouTube would be blowing up.

Another topic, the calling for Charlie Mac to be ousted. That topic got plenty of discussion all over town for years before he left.

The biggest meltdown are the great posters that are no longer posting on the rant...........

The Rant posters now are not in the same class as the old ones in the beginning. Too many negative posters against LSU.

I joined the Rant to learn more about LSU sports. It was great in the beginning. I like the SEC Rant a whole lot more now than the Rant.

Lou Tepper saying it would take "at least five years" to install his "drop linebacker" defense.

The Ole Miss/LSU game in '97 I believe. We were just coming off one of the biggest wins in Tiger Stadium over top-ranked FL, and we lose to OM the very next week to put a skidmark on the season.

Just what I was thinking. That was in the earliest days of the internet, with the old AOL message boards, and even the few folks on them were melting down after that game. If TD.com were around them, Chicken would have had to shut down the Rant for a week . . . at least!

58-3 vs. Florida in '93 would have been another choice moment, as well as the horrible Arkansas game at the end of that season where we could have posted our first winning season and bowl bid in 5 years, but instead laid an egg and let the Hogs run all over us at home.

But losing to Tulane in '82 would have been an all-timer of a Rant meltdown; one week after crushing Florida State for an Orange Bowl bid? That would have been classic. That, and the '86 Miami-Ohio game.
