Doesn't matter who starts at QB in 2011 - Hope JJ does well

ok, it does matter some, as getting into rhythm/etc makes a difference in close games. On the other hand, LSU was down to Florida 10-0 in 2007, down to OSU 10-0 in the BCSNCG in Jan 2008, and down 10-0 to TAMU in the Jan 2011 Cotton Bowl...

In other words, the starting QB is not that important. We came back and won all of those key games, and we will be equipped to do that if needed in the 2011 season.

So give JJ the starting job

BUT.. unlike last year, it might not matter if he gets the token start or not, as Mett will get most of the snaps in the game, and handle them competently, meaning we do not have to sustain so many frustrating series throughout the game in 2011.

Things are different now. I wish people could see that. it is plain to see why Les did what he did before, and why that approach will not be repeated.

Rest easy...Give JJ his starts and his share of snaps. If he moves the offense, great. If not, Mett and an improved/coached Lee will be on his heels and will get the snaps needed for the LSU offense to hummm.

Book it...Rest Easy. I guarantee it.

I hope JJ does do great..im happy with whoever it is. ...Theirs not a doubt he wont be the starter for the Oregon game....even if Mett did out play him in spring theirs really no way he would be ready for that big of a national stage his first game...

Since it isn't a typo, "their" is possesive. What you meant to say is "there is"

Bottom line is if JJ has truly stepped up and improved, he will play. If not, then Mett will be on the field. I am not concerned about our QB's this season, I think Mett's arrival will bring out the best in JJ

Shouldn't he earn it?

And then their time will be up when they lead the team to points

JJ will then trot back onto the field.

On JJs behalf...Can he really do worst than last year? Anything is an improvement from 9 games with 0 passing Tds and 10 Int....Thats hard to do so obviously he will be much improved.

Watching the spring videos jj looks to be the best qb. Now will that translate into games? hope so. If he can just get the ball out quicker he will have one hell of a sr year. Not to mention they are going to continue to run the ball and prob run the option. So JJ would be ur qb in those situations.

JJs problem has never been at practice...he always plays well in practice which had to do with all his starts..Jlee doesnt practice well... Come game time JJ pretty much freezes....almost as if its to fast for him

Yeah I'm pretty sure you have it backwards. JJ has always looked at least decent in practice, which is why he constantly starts imo. I'd be willing to bet that's why Les gives him so many chances. It clicks in practice but when he gets on the field in a real game he struggles. Probably the pace. He looked cool, calm, and collected in the A&M game. That's all JJ has to do is be cool, calm, collected and lead the offense and make a decent pass every now and then and our offense will click imo.

But in all honesty I think we'll see the same old JJ after Oregon and Mett will be starting by the 3rd or 4th game. Mett got brought in for a reason. I see it as JJ being told it's time to "shite or get off the pot"

LSU cannot afford to give series to players based on good looks or being a senior.

Start Mett is he is better. I want the best guy out there to play vs Oregon, and WV. No giving away series to the nice guy.

LSU has a real chance to win the national championship.
I say, dont give one series to a player who is not the best at that moment. only put the best guy on the field. if that changes during the game, fine. But no starts for the senior based on some bs about the time in grade. its not a union, its a football team.

He would have shite on hisself those games too if the play calls wasn't for a quick slant.. each time to TT.. When he have to go to the second option.. Thats when he look scared as crap... GC just wanted to get him some playing time before he got the booth.

Anyone watching with any analytical skills whatsoever, knows what he does well and what he does poorly, and why he did good when he did.

JJ did really well down the stretch for a reason.

If his primary reciever is wide open and JJ has protection, he did well. Otherwise, he ran or passed poorly. Period. This is by far the case, with very few exceptions. Ole Miss and TAMU had horrific pass defenses. Bama's defense was better obviously and he capitilized with the 2 passes in a row from inside the 5 yards line for a large part of his passing yards, and did fairly well otherwise, mixing in successful running to allow ok passing overall. JJ struggled against Arky, close to his normal 2010 performance.

JJ can look great in practice ad infinitum, but he has scarcely been able to maintain pocket pressure and look at ANYONE other than his prime target during any games. He has NOT progressed like many think in this area, so it comes down much more to the defense he is facing and whether they can cover and/or pressure him. If not, he can look sharp. If so, then he will look aweful. He did grow, however, as a running QB as the season progressed.

I watched every game multiple times, and the exceptions to this are extremely rare. If you do not see it this way, it is because you have not really watched where his head goes before/after the snap, or you just do not want to be honest.
period.

That said, i hope Krags changes this and he does great. But until I see him consistently perform against a real SEC-contending defense, he is still not good enough to lead us to the promised land, but he can start and play situationally and be a nice ingredient in an LSU winning formula with Mett (and maybe Lee) that can lead us to the promised land.

Every team LSU plays with JJ as QB will have a mental advantage, they just know he can't beat them...Now Met on the other hand no one know's squat, all they know is that he is a young QB with a big arm and if he beats out JJ for the starting job at the least they have to respect the verticle passing game...With JJ stop the run and score 21 you win...With Met ?????? who knows???
