Can we at least all agree that Louisiana is the tits?

How diverse is a typical coastal parish compared to a non coastal parish? At certain times of the year if you choose you could kill a limit of ducks in the am, catch a limit of trout and reds on the way back to the camp as well as bass and to top it off kill a deer that evening. Northern Parish you will not catch a speck or a red.

You have salt water, we don't. I would take a northern parish duck/deer hunt over a southern parish duck/deer hunt any day of the week.

Don't get me wrong I am an avid saltwater fisherman, but fishing is for the summertime IMHO.

Yeah, I know.

I'm not just talking about diversity in species to hunt and fish. I'm talking about diversity in landscape, public land, activities, and species to hunt and fish.

Don't get me wrong b/c I love saltwater fishing, but where these areas are located is not the place to go IMO for the average sportsman. These areas mostly offer saltwater fishing only unless you want to fit in and shoot spotted fawns, button bucks, or spikes! haha! Don't take me too serious, I have a ton of family down there.

Tensas and Rapides are both good suggestions in my opinion. I said Union because of Darbone NWR, Upper Ouachita NWR, Union Game Reserve, Lake Darbone, Bayou Darbone, Bayou DeLoutre, Ouachita River, Finch Lake, abundant amounts of private and public land to hunt, it borders Arkansas (which manages their wildlife better), there are plenty of deer, turkeys, ducks, hogs, doves, squirrels, rabbits, a variety of other game and great freshwater fishing. I'm right there with yall that said Tensas though

It doesn't really have world class anything (except for maybe duck hunting in certain locations), but it does have very good diversity.

I realize that and that's why I think the gulf that transitions into saltwater marsh then to cypress swamp is more diverse than farm land to hills.

Activities other then hunting and fishing weren't really mentioned in this thread.

The saltwater fishermen will mostly say the coastal parishes and non saltwater will say a northern parish.

Really the main reason why I chose Rapides, is because it is in the center of the freaking state. You have access to the best areas of the state for every species and landscape within a few hours. You cannot say that about any other parish.

I didn't tell you what you liked was wrong. I told you to not use personal preference within this discussion.

Salmon.. We aint called Sportsman's Paradise for nothing... I would be willing to bet that we rank at the top in all the game we offer... The deer around our farm land and river bottom areas can compete with the big boys.

Next time I will poll everyone I work with

I really don't know how to answer the question without using personal preference. This should only be answered by people who have hunted and fished in every parish.

How did you come to the conclusion Rapides was better than Tensas? Or for that matter all the other parishes. East and West Feleciana had to be close to # 1.

LA cannot compete with the Midwest for deer, sorry.

And I'm not talking about accessing other parts of the state from the parish.. I'm talking about the best parish by what the parish itself offers.

We can grow deer as big as theirs in areas.. I've seen this several times. But we can not compete with them b/c like you said.. too many rednecks and coon asses.
