I love Drew and the Saints as much as the next guy, but it isn't about "trusting anyone". It's about you working for your employer, being unsatisfied with your work environment (# of games, pay, etc....). When was the last time you went to your boss and demanded he/she show you the companies financial reports/situation because you felt you weren't getting enough compensation?

For whatever reason, these players feel they are obligated to complete transparency from their employers and also that they have the right to review their financial reports line by line....Sorry, doesn't work that way.

It's a business, not your personal piggy bank.

And as for lack of healthcare.........join the rest of the country. At the least you had an advantage to save some of the MILLIONS you made to prepare for a loss of job or other bad financial situations, like any normal individual should......but you didn't. So don't blame the owners for your lack of financial preparedness.

I'm not biased one way or the other, but I'm not gonna pin this on the owners just because they have money.

First, league vs. union negotiations go way beyond the lone boss-to-worker negotiation. There's a truckload of more money and people involved which will be bound up in an agreement (hopefully).

Also, the owners want a billion more $$ off the top to cover their expenses they say--a BILLION MORE. It's only fair that the union ask for some justification for this. I agree the owners are under no obligation to show them, but they need to provide some basis for justifying their request if they want it to be taken seriously. I don't blame the union & players; I wouldn't trust them either.

The players and owners are partners, not employer/employee. Huge difference.

The average American doesn't have a job with a 100% injury rate and an average career of 3.5 years.

You're lying through your keyboard. Your language earlier in the above quoted post shows that you're firmly on the owners' side. I'm sorry that you have no soul.

You can't compare healthcare of a football player to most of the country. Most of the country isn't putting their body on the line day in and day out. Sure it's their choice to do so, but the NFL makes so much money off of their bodies that it SHOULD pay for their injuries.

Other than that I agree.
