Getting to the point where my Z71 needs new tires. I pull a 5th wheel from time to time, and may be close to overloaded. Current tires are P265 65 R18 Bridestones. Do I need to consider load when buying new? Will I find C,D, or E tires in that size? Can anyone recommend a tire or caution me about a bad model or brand?

You should be able to get that size in load range D, which should be plenty for pulling your 5th wheel. All the cowboys I know run load range D mud tires on diesels and nobody I know has blown one pulling tractors cows and hay bales. E is probably overkill and will cost more than worth, and C is probably overloaded, but I doubt they will blow up. The ones you have are probably C rated.

ETA: It's easy to figure out if you're overloaded or not with a 5th wheel. Assuming the load is straight over the axle, Tongue weight plus the gross vehicle rear axle weight number on the tag divided by two if I remember correctly. That number needs to be below the tire load rating.

You are going to have to step up to a LT275/65R18 to get something in a 8 ply(load range D). You really dont have many options in the 265/65R18 that come in a stonger ply other than BFG KO A/T.
If it was mine I would put the 10 ply's on it.

Looks like Sams carries an LT265 made by Goodrich.

The BFG K/O A/T is a great tire but kinda expensive. You will have alot more options if you go to with the 275/65r18.It is just a little bigger and you should have no problems with it.

You pulling that 5th wheel with a 1500 or 2500 Z71?

Go load range D at a minimum and E if possible. I am running 285/75/16 duratracs in load range E 80 psi tires on my truck.

A load range D tire will support the weight that a 1/2 ton pickup is designed to carry. If you are needing E range tires, then most likely you are overloading a 1/2 ton truck suspension as well as the transmission and engine.

1500. Small 5er with lowish pin weight and rear storage.
