point being that many teams don't feature a back any longer, but have several that fit different roles. Look at the Packers for example, Kuhn was very valuable for them down the stretch, and was an undrafted FA out of Shippensburg.

I completely agree with this. There are only 7-8 feature backs in the NFL. Just saying the 1600 yard home run hitter still exists.
