This is totally stupid commentary, but peanut butter actually was used much more originally in savory foods. There are old recipes calling for tuna fish and peanut butter sandwiches. And if you think about the cuisine of Southeast Asia, peanut sauces and the like are often used to enhance the flavor of meat.
I've fussed around with adding a tablespoon of peanut butter into ground meat before cooking burgers. It adds some flavor but whether it is groundbreaking or worth it, I can't say.

This burger uses it as a condiment. Just a plain burger, on a bun, with some peanut butter.
I'm a fan of using "sweet" things in savory dishes, myself. And not stupid commentary at all-very interesting!
