The ending gives us a pretty good lead on the direction of the show.
My theory as of now is this:
Ted meets his wife at Barney's wedding
Barney marries Nora, the girl he is chasing now
The show doesn't last too much longer

Yeah, but you never know because they drag on things a little longer than needed. The show can't last much longer while maintaing some originality and creativity.
I often find Ted to get very annoying at times, but the rest of the characters I love.

Am I the only one who wouldn't want their dad telling them about all the chicks he banged on the way to meeting their mom? Oh awesome Dad, you're a huge New York pussy who acts like he's on Sex and the City. Please tell me more about the girls you banged and then stopped talking to because they wouldn't hold you.

Yeah I've foudn the show much more enjoyable when you pretend he's not telling this to his kids and just focus on the actual show. Don't care about that part of it.

I could understand that. Just personally, I think that Barney is going to tie the knot before Robin. I think it would be a good twist in the show. Or who knows? Maybe Barney and Robin get married? I don't think the writers want to go down that road again though...

I think it will be at Punchy's wedding. Possibly one of the last episodes of this season leading into next maybe. I dont think the show will make it to Barney/Robins wedding.
ETA I can only see this show lasting 2 or 3 more seasons. I think 1 season will entirely revolve around Ted suiting whoever the girl is and I think that will be the last season with possible Barney/Robins wedding thrown in the season at some point.

Next season will be the last... it's been announced from the start it would be 7 seasons long.

Yeah, it was a good guess I thought.. but actually glad I was wrong.
But most of my other predictions seem well aligned. Especially Marshall quitting GNB to 'save the environment'

This is completely wrong. I actually am not entirely sold they will end up together. I think its the obvious way of ending the show but I just cant see them getting back together at this point. They ended there relationship on mutual terms with the feeling that they just weren't right for each other and were better off friends. Not sure what will change that.
I could see the show hinting that they end up together but if next season really is the last, I doubt we will see there relationship completely come together. Too much emphasis will be on Ted.

The only way it is Robin's wedding is if it is to Barney b/c Ted said in last night's episode that he was best man at a wedding but Marshall was sitting next to him in a matching tuxedo. So, Marshall is also in the wedding. Ted could still Robin's best man, but I doubt it. She will have Lilly and Barney will have Ted with Marshall as a groomsman.
All that being said, the wedding mentioned last night could be Barney to Nora or some other chick, but I have to agree with previous posters that it will be to Robin.

It could also be at punchys wedding which we know for a fact Ted is the best man in and is approaching. Not sure why none of y'all haven't addressed that. That seems the most likely wedding he was at at this point.
