Nobody got separation from this guy and I don't think a pass was completed against him. He's strong, physical, and has enough speed. He's going going to turn into something special over the next few years.

He played very well in that game. Also had a good game against Bama, including when he went up against Julio Jones, as I recall.

He's a big dude for a CB.

yeah, he an Claiborne are going to be an awesome 1-2 this year with the little ball of hate at the nickle position.

Simon will see some good playing time but Mathieu is going to be the #2 corner. Don't forget that Tyrann is a great cover corner and someone like Ron Brooks will do a good job at what Mathieu did last year in the nickel and he proved that when Claiborne went out for the Bama game and for the ULM game.

We will still see Mathieu come off the corner at times but I think Brooks should fill that role more often.

Size isn't as big of a deal at corner. Look at some of the best corners in the NFL like Asante Samuel, Dunta Robinson and Cortland Finnegan.

Wow, that picture shows how long he really is.

Also, from what I understand, he's a great person off the field as well. "Yes mam, no mam" kind of person. Hard worker in the classroom.

There was some talk of him moving to the other side of the ball. Don't think you'll see that. He'll be playing on Sundays.......

i want to see:
#1 CB claibourne
#2 CB t-harold simon

and t-rex in the same role he played last season. i dont want to isolate him from the action. hes too dynamic around the ball and causes too many turnovers.

Thanks for posting that pic, alange. One of the things I came away from the Cotton Bowl thinking is that Simon, TM, Reid and Loston are ALL very sure tacklers.

LSU's defensive backfield is set for quite a few years.

Damn. Is it football season yet?

This. Although I wouldn't be upset if T-Rex started on the outside, because he can cover well. But he has too much of a nose for the ball to be a pure cover corner every down.

Hes going to be the starting CB opposite of Claiborne

Just keep Mathieu in his role and let him get stats and be a menace to the QB and 2nd and 3rd down.

LSU has one of the best young secondaries in years - Mathieu, Simon, Calhoun, Loston and Reid will all be SOPHOMORES in 2011.
