If anyone else wants to take a go at trying to restore it to, like KingHippo did. I would really appreciate it.

I've been workin' with it... Trying a different tactic - Using other similar images to composite and overlay.

It just takes time.

Do you have one of the "size boxes" checked off when you are uploading to imageshack? Cuz that's the same size as the first one. Just asking...

ETA:

Like I said - Work in progress...

Everyone is born with the exact same amount of Photoshop skills.

I'm self taught... My learning curve was pretty much the same as learning Spanish. Took a few years in high school and was far from conversationally proficient... but I could get by. Took a couple years in college...improved a bit. Found ways to practice by putting myself in more Spanish-speaking environments (at work, etc...) - Improved by leaps and bounds. Now I can travel in Mexico and have no problem getting along where English isn't spoken.

Never know until you try.

I did it in Gimp, free software

Learning the basics doesn't really take extremely long. After that it is all thinking of creative ways to accomplish a fark

If you need to learn how to do anything more advanced just google it

It's starting to look very nice truble.

Has anyone heard from Tim Dallinger? I could of sworn he would have like to give it a go.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but... Sometimes the serious stuff that isn't my own idea takes a little longer to wrap my head around getting started than the "fun" stuff that IS my idea, ya know?

I didn't even start on that WWII pilot project until after the thread had been up for about 3 days. Give it some time.

It's looking very good.

Anytime facial features are involved, the restoration can be very tricky. And although the damage isn't as bad as we've seen in the past, this one is tricky since it involved the face.

Troubl's is a little more accurate facially. The way I structured the cheek bones makes the kid look alot slimmer.

ETA: it is freaky how much her version looks like my nephew
