Trey is about 5' 9" 170, he doesn't have the break away speed most scatbacks his size have, but he could make you miss in a phone booth. Not too sure of his grade situation as of right now.

Athlete Alonzo Moore (2012) is the one thats the definite D1 athlete that LSU has spoken to a few times already.

Rumors abound that LSU is only signing 1 RB.

He probably won't be it. Sorry Dandy.

He will be more likely to sign with a ULM, LaTech, ULL.......not LSU, unfortunately.

Like a previous poster mentioned, there is a kid on his team that will be highly coveted: Alonzo Moore.

Great cuts, vision, and field awareness. Blocks reasonably well for his size. Not as fast as you would expect or want a back of his size to be.

Unfortunately, some of the defenses he was up against in the video made him look a lot better than he should have.

Secondly, that run 60 yards to gain 8 just doesn't cut it in the SEC.

Overall, he looks like a really talented kid, but like many gifted HS guys, he relies way too much on a few physical gifts which won't carry him far, even on lower level Div 1.

He totally reminds me of a guy that was on our team at Pineville when I played '93-'97 named Tony Taylor. He would pull a TD out of his arse from nowhere. Our coaches had to tell the refs not to blow the whistle until he was on the ground because the defense would see him covered in 9 guys and think he was down and then he'd be running across the field. I think he ended up at Northwestern State and might have made a scout team afterwards.

He will be a good one. As for your comment that it wouldn't cut it in the SEC, MOST film you see of HS athletes is against competition far inferior to the SEC. He has the ability, I just doubt anyone from a top tier SEC school gives him a legit offer.

He will be a good one, somewhere.

I agree with that assessment and Tony Taylor had a great career at NSU and was even on the practice squad with the Cowboys. Trey is a good kid, I just hope that he has his grades in order so that he can get a shot at a Tech,Ulm, or Southland school.

Also most of the clips that you see #7 (Moore) at QB are from Gilbert's 10th grade year and he has gotten a little faster and more decisive on his cuts imo.

Anyway like I said Moore #7 is the one I think we will hear big things about as he is the real deal.

The Kid is 5'9" 180lbs and ran a 4.44 forty yard dash at a LSU Summer Camp Last year. From 40 yards out he is the fastest athlete on Winnfield's Team, Faster than Moore. He is very strong, bench pressing over 300lbs. He works hard and he will do well. Its ashamed that you would say that its just the defenses that he's facing that makes him look good. Because those are the same defenses that #7 Alonzo Moore are putting up big numbers against! Besides he rushed for 175, 223, and 163, against playoff defenses,in there three playoff games this past post season. He has every tool he will need to be a big time player, just needs to gain about 15-20 lbs and get better at blitz pick up! Both Gilbert and Moore will be good D-1 Players!

Alrighty........well, first off, you apparently didn't read my post or your comprehension is poor, as what I said was that "IN THE VIDEO" the defenses made him look better than he should have. I haven't seen the kid's whole season, so I could not make a comment about that. However, in the video, several of the defenses got blocked way too easily, took bad angles, and tackled very poorly, so what I said was not "a shame", it was correct.

I have no doubt that the kid is gifted. You can see that from the video, and if you paid attention, I complimented him, but as I stated, which others have also agreed with, including the winntiger who appears to be from Winnfield....it is likely that he will be a Northwestern, Tech, ULM kinda guy. Is there a possibility that he'll pull a lower level, or even higher Div 1 scholly? Sure! Its possible. However, it doesn't seem as likely, especially with regards to LSU, since we are loaded at RB and there are several very talented guys we are considering. In fact, I'd be very interested to see a comparison of this guy and Jalen Richard side by side.

4.44 huh? That may be very slightly slower that what PP7 will run in the combine. I love these inflated HS stats.

Finally, it never serves you well to come on here with 1 post and try to call people out. First off, it indicates that you probably haven't and don't spend much time keeping up with recruiting on a long term basis, so your evaluations are lacking and your opinions are feeble. Secondly, it gives the impression that you are a friend/family member/teammate/superhomer ( with a name like KrowdPleaseHer, my guess would be that you attend his high school ) who will continually be blind to the fact that anyone could be better than your prospect and argue relentlessly with other posters as to whether the guys really deserves 5 stars even after he signs with Southwestern Montana Polytechnic U. Those things get you relegated to the ignore list very quickly.

What I was saying there was that the practice of running back and forth across the field is what doesn't cut it in the SEC. Of course, HS competition is inferior to the best that the NCAA has to offer, but that is one reason that many of the quick, shifty, scatbacks don't perform as well in the SEC. Trindon Holliday is an example. His speed made him a threat, but it was negated because he was so easy to take down. Many of these guys in high school who are so much more talented than the competition can get away with running 90 yards on a 30-yard rushing TD. They juke, slip out of tackles, run one way, then the other, then 15 yards backwards, then manage to break free and score. That rarely, if ever, happens on this level, so while it looks good on film, I don't think that is what the coaches are looking for in a good RB.

Lets not get anything twisted Just cas im new to the site doesnt mean im not a fan, or dont follow high school recruiting. And You can say what every you want about inflated high school stats, cause thats what LSU coaches clocked him at! You are very ignorant cause nine times out of ten plays from a offensive highlight tape will show poor tackling and bad angles from a defense, if there wasnt any of that then there wouldnt be a highlight tape duck! And Im far from a high school student so you need to focus on the athlete and not my name of age cause this blog isnt about me! And who said anything about LSU! Its a great program, but not the only one!And as far as scat back not making it in the SEC Ontario McCaleb out of Auburn, Remember him? Trey Gibert Five star no, but very good player and Talent Yes! Im not Bias or going to argue that he is the best back ever, cause I never said he was! So you kick rocks and I dont care how mad you are! Trey Gilbert Keep your ears open cause your going to be hearing his name for A long time to come!
