I know we had some good years and a few great years, but basketball is third wheel here. We don't have a lot of elite talent and the ones who are great are one and done. We need to give tj at least until next season to see what happens. Flame away.

The program has decent/good tradition and a new practice facility. Just don't have the athletes.

I'm pretty sure north Texas isn't a basketball school either.

Sorry, I just don't buy into the "we're not a basketball school" crap.

We weren't a "baseball school" until Skip and Paul came along. It just goes to show that the right pieces in the right places can change all that.

I have to admit that I thought that TJ was a great hire. That's obviously not proving to be the case, it seems.

Build the program back and it'll return to glory. When I entered LSU, the Tigers were consistent winners in basketball and were in the playoffs every year. Basketball was the top ranked sport and football was just entering a new era with Mac having left. You went to Alex Box to study because no one went to baseball games.

You my friend are wrong. We can be great in basketball. Louisiana has a lot of talent. We need to keep them here and not let them go to Baylor, Oregon state, etc. With Texas so close there is no reason why we don't recruit that area more. Texas is loaded with talent. Bottom line is LSU now has the facilities, we need to get our shite together and start bringing players here who want and who can compete in the SEC and on a National Level. There are no excuses!

Alabama is not a basketball school either. Neither is Ole Miss or Tennessee.

Or Ohio State.

Or Florida.

Or Texas.

So what's the deal there?

The deal there is they each went and hired a good coach. We need to go to UTEP and see if Tim Floyd would like to return to Louisiana. If he can get it done at UNO and Iowa State, he certainly can do it at LSU, in my humbled opinion.

Those who say we aren't a basketball school are so ignorant. We are 17th on all time final fours. Multipke hall of famers. 2nd most second titles. People are so retarded

LSU is the 3rd or 4th best program historically in the SEC. I don't see why people can't love three sports.

FIFY

You do know that the GREATEST college basketball player ever played at LSU???

That fact alone makes LSU a "basketball school."

UVA produced Ralph Sampson.
How relevant are they in the college basketball world?

Maravich averaged 44.2 points per game, Sampson averaged 16.9 points per game.

Terrible comparison.

The greatest college basketball player in the history of the game played for LSU. This fact alone makes LSU a "basketball school."

It will take money to get a great coach and with the state of the economy and budget cuts, I don't think that will happen. Not saying I don't want lsu basketball to succeed but it will take money and I don't see the school doing that.

Ok give him one more year. We got some good recruits coming in next year that could provide significant help but if we are not in the final 32 next year fire his arse. Yea basketball is not is big as football at Lsu but damn this is soo bad its embarassing.

A-fricking-men

It isn't like Florida was this great basketball school before 2006. Texas A&M was a "football" school until the last decade, and they've become a really good basketball school. Any team with some support can be a basketball school, and LSU definitely has the facilities and fanbase to be great if Trent can get a few recruits
