I can't remember the last time I cared this little about LSU basketball

Maybe it has to do with moving to New Orleans.
Maybe it's because of how bad they were last year I had very little expectations.
Maybe it's because I have been able to watch/listen to a game yet this year without being bored to tears or sickened at how bad the team was playing.

Idk, but it makes me sad.

Look man, this team is bad. But they are very young and are trying hard.

Stop freaking whining and just let them be. If you really didn't care, you wouldn't be starting a thread about them on a message board.

I understand you probably care about all things LSU, but sometimes, especially this team, things go wrong.

Dale's last couple of years compares for me because there was absolutely no hope at that point that we could right it under Dale...he was IMHO playing out the string.

Not that there's much more hope right now. Tough for even a die-hard like me to summon the interest.

Not even close. I cared then because we were used to being pretty damn good in basketball for quite a while. I now look at basketball season as something that is a filler between football and baseball.

Not quite there for me but it's edging closer. Hoping for a better effort tonight. FWIW i watched the Isaac kid play a couple weeks back and he is SEC ready. 6'3", 6'4" with a muscular frame, good quickness and great hops. Nice stroke from beyond the arc and fearless in the lane. He lifts the game of all his teammates and never gets flustered. I couldn't help but wonder if TJ is thinking of moving him to the point in college. He has good ball handling skills and is an excellent distributor, often takes the point late in games for the Red Devils.

I guess it's a matter of perspective and opinion. It was for me. Four straight years of bad hoops. I even quit going to games at the end, which I'd never done before or since.

Good to hear. He has kind of been forgotten as O'Bryant is Trent's first real marquee recruit.

I've heard he is coming off an injury though. Any signs of that Randy?

I see other programs that have consistency, which we used to enjoy. It was frustrating for a while but now I just don't care. As I have gotten older I have grown to love baseball more and more. Having the Dodgers and Angels has helped with that as well. There's the strategy in baseball that I love. Over the years basketball has lost much of its strategy and the finesse of the game has been lost. Too much of what used to be called traveling is allowed.

Looks to be completely recovered; good lateral movement and vertical explosion. He sat out all of last season to insure a permanent recovery. Had he played last year it's likely there would have been some serious sniffing around by a lot of schools. Thank the Lord for the early signing period is all I can say. Isaac is a more impressive physical specimen than anyone currently on the team. Think, LSU wide receiver body who excels at basketball.

The fact that we are SOOOO bad makes me care a lot. I mean, this season extremely embarrassing for the fans and the players alike. It's not like they are going out there showing little effort. We're playing our asses off and still getting our teeth kicked in. That sucks.

No doubt. Especially for the players. FWIW with a healthy Turner and Warren I still think they'd have lost the last three but the OM game might have been interesting. I look for Stringer to find his shot once Turner is out there because the defense can't cheat as much when he's on the floor.

I understand that. The very reason Dale's ending was as bad or worse for me even then now. And there was absolutely no relief in sight at the end. At least Trent inked O'Bryant. Dale had nothing like that coming in and known impending probation.

True, it happened in 2006. Very little interest for a 14-2 conference team and not even all that much until we beat Duke. Then it was a full-on bandwagon that was abondoned right after the UCLA game.

Right now, yes. Hopefully not for long. What is great about LSU is we have a strong football base that just loves football, a strong basketball base that has always loved basketball first and foremost and a strong baseball base that love it more than any other sport. Some of the fans in those categories only go to their sporting event. That speaks well for LSU. I hope that basketball will return back to prominence soon.

And palming the ball. I don't care any more. Basketball has become ghetto and if the rules were enforced, as Naismith created them, you wouldn't have this gangster ball.

Having said this, LSU deserves a better Basketball program.

It's all about winning. In 1987, people were football and basketball. Baseball averaged 600 fans per game despite being a CWS returnee.

Five years later, it was 1) basketball and a 4th consecutive 20 win season and 8 straight NCAA apperances - mixed in with an SEC title and some GREAT games. 2) baseball was just getting blasted off and in its 3rd season of sell-out games. 3) Football was nothing people kept up with so much. People in north LA rooted for NLU or Tech and laughed at LSU. Now, those same fans are LSU "fans".

Now, it's 1) football 2) baseball and 3) basketball. If basketball was like it was 2 decades ago, people would go and fans would be made. No one cares about basketball b/c no one talks about it to get them interested b/c no one likes talking about teams that lose by 25 each night. People root for teams that win and that's a shame but it's nature of the beast. People who are modern LSU fans or didn't attend school there will not suupport it during bad seasons, no matter the sport. That's why basketball is poorly attended. The only people wh olike it are the historians, students, and purists. I know some baseball fans who won't go near the PMAC.
