LA native MMA fighter Rich Clementi...

Just got choked unconscious....
He was fighting waaaaaaaaay too cocky. He was manhandling Derrow and started fighting sloppy. VERY disappointing.

Did you watch it? It was on HDnet....
Rich manhandled him for 2.5 rounds, but was fighting with no technique. I was sooooo disgusted. That's 2 bad losses in 3 fights to hugely subpar fighters

Just got off the phone with monte cox (timmmays manager) and he said tim was out of shape and took it on short notice, but his opponent knowing that, did EXACTLY what you are supposed to do a guy in that shape: bring it to his arse make put him in the fire from

What did Rich have to say? Also who were the guys in his corner, I didn't recognize either of them
Posted on 1/29/11 at 5:20 pm to Shoulderchoke
Rich just said he is aggravated but otherwise just fine
Unsure who was in his corner but if I had to guess I'd say tim ruberg was more than likely one

Kbeezy...no disrespect towards Rich, but what does he expect from fighting at this point in his career? Is he trying to get back to the "big show" or is he fighting b/c of the love of the game? I would have to guess that after being in and then being released from the UFC a fighter of his age would have to seriously look at hanging the gloves up. I am in no way trying to be disrespectful, I am just trying to get a glimpse of the thought process of someone who has made it to that level and then is told that he is no longer needed. It's has to be hard to get motivated after that...

Well, because he is no longer in the UFC doesn't mean he doesn't still fight on big shows.
He was in negotiations with strikeforce for a while, got flat out robbed (IMO) on TV at bellator, and this one was a televised bout
But I guess the simple answer is this: he is a professional fighter. It's a little tough as an outsider to grasp or accept that sometimes because often times people want to believe athletes do things for competition, or for the love of the game, or some inner quest for greatness, and to an extent that absolutely exists. But the overriding principal Is still always $$$
He is still pulling in between 8-20 grand a fight. He still owns and operates 3 private businesses with his wife, but he is also actively fighting and making plenty money fighting. He fights 4-7 times a year, there is another 50, 60, 80 g's in his family
Money Is always the greatest motivator
