Did Miles take a shot at Crowton and his abilities?

per ESPN and Miles announcing the new OC....
"Steve brings to our staff the type of experience necessary to develop quarterbacks," Miles said. "He's an experienced play-caller who will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to the staff."
As much as he was complimenting Steve, I take it as him covering the deficiencies of GC at the same time.

It's a bit obvious to everyone what the problem was. No sense in denying it.

Not all OC can develop QBs. Not a shot at Crowton just a fact that Krag is being hired because of the added ability to develop that position well.

I mean he really can't compliment the new guy without it coming off as an insult to gc so I don't think he meant anything by it

He didn't mean anything by that.

It's not like Crowton was working with McNabb and Favre after Flynn and Perriloux left.
With that said, LSU could've easily won two more games if Crowton would have dialed down the Lee interception train.

I think Coach Miles is too much of a professional to start throwing shots at his former employee. He handles things in the quite discretion of his own office. Tells them to look for another job & then wishes them fairwell & good luck. Having said that, I did kinda chuckle when I saw the comments about developing qb's & a play-caller who will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to the staff.

As Harry Truman said, "I don't give 'em hell -- I just tell the truth and they think it's hell!"

read Steves bio, he played QB and his son was one hell of a QB. He knows the postion better than the previous guy.

All you need to know is that Les Miles would never take a shot at someone that has just been forced out of his job at LSU... never. If you ever get a quote of Les putting down another coach you will know that his child or wife or both are being held for ransom and he has to say such things to get them back!
Les Miles is to good of a person to take a shot at GC.

Maybe the fact that Crowton wasn't able to run his own offense had something to do with it.

That's what we haven't had since 2006 season.

the development of the unknown Tim Rattay at Tech does not really get enough debate. I know tech plays in a weak conference and it would be folly to try and argue "what if" but the fact remains he took a kid nobody else really recruited and set several NCAA records that still stand today. I keep seeing the argument about how everyone figures him out by year 3 but can anyone really put a finger on it? Chavis was able to overcome his "3rd and chavis" issue, why couldn't Crowton overcome predictability. Makes me wonder.

I think it was Miles indirect low key response to Crowton's low key comment that he would be able to run the more opened up offense @ Maryland that he felt comfortable running.
Miles knew that Crowton was not a recruiter or a QB developer when he hired him. That being said Miles kept Crowton around the last 3 years w/o recruiting good/the right QBs, Miles not hiring the right QB coach to develop the QB's we had and Miles tampering w/the offense. Based on Miles needs he should have parted w/Crowton @ least 2 years ago. If our AD wouldn't give Miles the money to buy out Crowton , Miles could have chipped in some like he did w/his last pay raise @ Okie St. going to his assistants.
I don't think their relationship became contentious like Miles & Fisher became but they didn't fit. They each had to get off a little low key , gentle jab @ one another instead of a big public fight while parting ways as befitting their personalities.

So Les Miles...who I NEVER saw with a play chart in his hands...was calling the offense.
Damn Miles is a genius! Cause ive never seen an OC...even in the booth...without a play chart. We have underestimated the genius of Miles. He has the entire play chart in his brain...

..c'mpn , you reading WAY too much into that ....why can't folks just take the man at his word and what he says is what he says ..
if we know one thing about CLM is he doesn't take shots - obvious or otherwise - at his colleagues..

No, Les has way too much class to do that. You can question his coaching but as a representative of LSU he is nothing but class

Among the standouts he has tutored include BYU running back Luke Staley, who was the recipient of the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back and led the nation in scoring in 2001; Troy Edwards, Louisiana Tech's 1998 Biletnikoff Award honoree as the top collegiate receiver in the country; Louisiana Tech quarterback Tim Rattay, who finished 10th in balloting for the Heisman Trophy in 1999; and Boston College quarterback Glenn Foley, who finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1993.
Crowton has coached seven quarterbacks who have gone on to be selected in the NFL Draft

Les don't roll like that

That's just your positiger paranoia talking. It's a condition that assumes when you compliment and show respect for one person you are insulting the other person. You compliment Krags therefore you are insulting Crowton. You compliment and respect Saban therefore you are automatically insulting Miles. Positiger Paranoia is what your describing.
