Why are people using Kragthorpe's HC experience against him

when being the OC is a whole different matter? Probably the same reason some folks thought a good OC would automatically make a great HC. Give the man a chance to do, what he does which is coach the offense. There is a fairly large difference between OC and HC.

because this place if full of people with single digit IQ's.
one guy said he was very disappointed with the hire and then proceeded to ask what kind of offense Krag ran.

Because we have an embarrassing portion of our fanbase that bitches uncontrollably about everything.

because sean payton would be a great offensive coordinator. because urban meyer would be a great offensive coordinator. because nick saban would be a great defensive coordinator. come on man. just because his title was head coach doesn't mean that his offenses were irrelevant. he's an offensive minded coach, and his teams struggled offensively when he was a head coach. he even called plays his last year at louisville. that tells us something. i'm not asking you to look at his win-loss percentage at tulsa or louisville. but their yards and points scored have something to do with him as an offensive coach. that's part of why louisville hired him as hc, and that's why we hired him as oc.

Being HC is different than being OC. Don't care if he called his own plays. It's a totaly different dynamic.

We are just a few "tweaks" away from having a monster offensive football team. I think this guy can work with our quarterbacks and get them over the hump.I feel good about the hire and ready for the season to start. It's over and done with. Let's get behind him.

Look man, you need to get on board, this is The Rant! If we don't bitch and moan about this hire how the hell are we going to look foolish and backtrack if it works out really well. There is no place for optimism here!

Didn't their offense improve after he took over playcalling?

Its strange. I don't remember anyone criticizing Florida for hiring Jabba the Weis.

The same can be said about every single sports team who has a message board.

:kige:
See: Charlie Weiss. Awful HC at ND, but look what the Chiefs did this year. He is a genius at grooming QB's and calling an Offense.
Kragthorpe will do just fine. Pro Style, no gimmicky plays 90% of the time.

The low IQs on this board never cease to amaze me.

Because if people want to boast and take into account his HC success at Tulsa, then it is only fair to evaluate his HC performance at Louisville.

It's not as simple as looking at stats. SK's offense put up worse number each year he was there, but the talent level went down precipitously, basically because once you got past the starters on the 07 team (SK's first at UL, which finished as the #6 offense n the country) the depth was almost nonexistent. Petrino had left the cupboard pretty bare. That's not a problem you fix overnight. By the way, one of the reasons that UL's offense was better this season (under Strong) is that the O-line was all seniors and went throught the entire year without any serious injuries. While Strong did a great job, I think that the team would have been better this year even if Krags had been the coach.

The numbers went down but, as I just wrote, at least some of that could be attributed to lack of talent. I only got to see a couple of UL games on TV in 09 (when Krags was calling his own plays). I think the playcalling was better than the year before, but that is a completely subjective opinion based on a limited sample.
