I've never understood this.

Are there really people out there who are more invested in the recruiting aspect than the actual games??

I've always heard this, but felt it was maybe a joke but then I saw this on DD this morning:

quote:

I have one friend who does not purchase season tickets and does not have a computer but calls me five to seven times per day wanting to know if there is anything new in recruiting.

I understand being interested/excited about BOTH, but JUST recruiting. Just strikes me as a bit creepy to be obsessed with 16-18 yr old boys courtship

I don't think anything in that comment suggested his friend didn't watch are get excited about the football games. Sounds like an older gent who's not in tune with modern technology of today to get any information on recruiting.

I also think he's just wanting to talk to Dandy.

I find the recruiting board to be by far the creepiest of the boards on td.com

Seeing how across the nation coaches are fired when 5 star recruits don't live up to the hype, I'd say there are a whole lot more recruiting fans than you think.

See Texas: They fired pretty much every offensive coach on the staff (most of which won a national title and appeared in a national title last season) only because some local 5 star QB wasn't that good.

Probably not that much more creepy than paying thousands of dollars a year to watch the same boys run around in tight pants and hit each other (just sayin you can make anything sound creepy when you use the term "boys")

You are posting a topic on the tiger rant. Which one means you follow the 16-17 yr old kid that LSU brings in every year. Second you might not follow them out of high school but what happens when they get to LSU They are still young adults a couple of years later? I love recruiting and follow it was a passion but on the other hand I love LSU football and watching the talent grow each year and seeing how they turn out before leaving LSU.

I watch the season more than I look at recruiting but recruiting can be a big part of watching the season too. Its sort of like the NFL draft and you watching the college season...

Its the future of the team and can lead to an estimation of how good our team will be in these years.

There's a balance to it. I could care less about the #1 recruiting ranking but I do think there's some truth to the rankings overall. If you are not consistently in top 25 ranking you probably won't win many games each year.

I think its more about developing the class you get but there's only so much you can get from a #50 class....so you gotta have balance. There are too many examples of 4&5 star flops and there are many 2&3 stars that turn out to be studs. See my avatar as proof!

And yes, I care more about W's than recruiting.

this makes no sense. I care about LSU sports. I do follow recruiting a little bit. But ultimately I care about LSU sports.

I dont understand the people who ONLY follow recruiting. Whether it's LSU or any other school

I don't see much about breakfast on the recruiting board. I do see people discuss the potential of different players and how they might fit into LSU's offensive/defensive systems. I don't find that creepy (now talking about KW's calves is a little creepy )

This... Or maybe they just don't have the money to spend on season tickets.

I love how everyone makes assumptions and judge people based on those assumptions.

the recruiting to me is very important because i feel like they can take a five star and coach him into greatness if he is surrounded by good players. and it also gives u a feel for whats ahead in team strength. BUT THERE IS NOTHING LIKE WATCHING THE ACTUAL GAME
