Spread option if Krag is the man. That's what we need instead of junk ball fads, and I think what Les believes he needs to win more championships. You will see more teams move away from Leach, Mullen, Kelly..... And go to what Bama, Stanford, and most NFL teams use.

Historically, the college game sets a lot of trends for the pro game. The pro game has actually be slower to adapt.
It's not there yet, but as the game evolves, there will be more and more players like Newton and Vick who can run and throw... with equal skill. And no coach in the world will prefer anything else, because even an average passing mobile QB is difficult to defend.
Some NFL team incorporate spread concepts... I dunno there's a lot to it.

Thank you 6.5 pound baby Jesus. We do not have the QB for anything else.

LSU will also have a much easier time recruiting top tier QBs with a pro-style offense.

Why is that what we need? Do we need that because you like it more?
You know what we need? An offense that scores points. Why in the frick does it need to be a pro-style offense? That "junk ball" shite had two teams in the national championship this year.

Oh no Bob. This board is full of people that know exactly what works in college FB. They know exactly what we need and how the rest of the nation is going to follow what we do here at LSU.

+1.
Glad to see somebody gets it. I dont give two shits if its spread or pro style or triple option. I want points on the fricken scoreboard.

Exactly. I just want to see a well-coached team line up and execute whatever it is we plan on running, and look good doing it.

We need points yes, but Auburn had a once in a century player at QB and that offense will never take off in the NFL, just like the option doesn't work in the pros.
We will have a pro-style offense at LSU because thats what Les wants,....ball control, run heavy, and play good defense and special teams. We don't need to score 40pts a game but we need to score more than we did this year, jesus if we could get any points in the second half besides that gadget HB pass, we would have won, same as against Arkansas, just too little on offense.
Whatever it is, it will be better than the short side option.
Vick will never win a Super Bowl, quote me on that.

Not right now, no.
But in 10-15 years when guys run like Vick and throw like Manning, they will.

There are good points and some bad ones in this post - especially the good comments about scoring points. We have lacked an identity for the last 4 years, did not have crisp execution, and seemed to be experimental in our play calling and use of personal. My personal view is that we need a primary identity of a balanced run and pass, and multiple package formation offense built around the successful concepts that work in the NFL and not the spread option and air raid that are the rage at present.Georgia Tech runs the wishbone - like triple option and won the ACC last year, but it is not something that I want either. Do you?

I doubt any single QB will ever run like Vick and throw like Manning.

but why not? Vick could do it if he put in the work, i'm sure. it's a mentality thing i think.

1. How many players (not just QBs) can run like Vick?
2. How many QBs can throw like Manning?
3. What are the chances of a player being capable of both?
