Apples and oranges. If there was a playoff system in CFB, then the SEC "thing" would quickly go away. Under the BCS system, it is helpful that your conference is perceived as strong. Nothing similar in the NFL.

no it wouldn't. a playoff would use the same "BCS" standings used now to pick teams, with polls factored in

in pro football there is the strength of victory and strength of schedule tiebreakers, but those almost never come up
