Ruffino's

Color me underwhelmed.
Bloody Mary--no bite to it. I didn't ask, but I don't think they used Zing Zang, which is better than 99% of every other Bloody Mary, even homemade.
BBQ shrimp appetizer--sauce was good for dipping the bread in. Shrimp were good size, decent tasting. Nothing outstanding.
Calamari--I haven't had this dish a lot, but it seemed ok to me. Red sauce wasn't that great.
Sensation Salad--I love sensation salads, and this one was pretty good.
16 oz. Ribeye: Cooked to perfection just a touch above medium rare, but wasn't all that tasty. My ribeyes taste better--even a lesser cut. I'm thinking that it wasn't the best cut available.
Bacon Mashed taters: very nice.
Service: excellent, considering the group I was with. The little guy was pretty on top of things, but was neither absent nor overbearing.
Atmosphere: Pretty terrible. The "pretentious douchebag" ratio was off the fricking charts. There were several rejects from Jersey Shore, lots of late 20s/early 30s yuppie types drinking scotch while their slutty dates drank appletinis and Cosmos.
Ruffin should consider dropping the prices on his menu about 10-15%. Then maybe I wouldn't have been disappointed.

This is why I don't go there or spend my money there...it is what it is.

I concur.
I've been there three times and definitely wasn't impressed either time. To be honest, I don't even remember what I ate it was that forgettable.

I don't doubt your review...but I have to disagree with the "Zing Zang" Bloody Mary!
Zing Zang is the worst of the Bloody Mary Mixes in my opinion. But that is one drink so lets not get distracted...
As for Ruffino's...part of the reason I do not go to restaurants other than "Tokyo Cafe" is because I can cook the same food....BETTER...for half the price.

They charged me an extra 6 bucks for substituting aspargus for broccolli. Granted I guess I should have asked but I would have never believed I would have been charged that much.

You don't enjoy going out to eat? You are the guy that's always..."I could do it better."
You sound like a good time.

Ive been roughly ten times since around 2003. Seems like the last 2 or 3 times I have gone, I've been less and less impressed with them. If I ever go back, it will prolly be a long time.

I have to disagree with you about Zing Zang, I have not found a better mix.
Can you please share with us what you like?

I essentially posted the same thing back in August, and I was literally ripped to shreds by the board and the thread was anchored.

Perhaps it was an attack on the messenger, not the message.

Yeah it's typical rant. On the food board, everyone can cook better than every restaurant they've ever been to (except for some guy that can't cook like they do at Tokyo Cafe...ha).

I've been twice in the last six months and it was amazing. I ordered Fish Katie/Cedar Plank Baked Redfish and drank wine though.
