Miles committing professional suicide?

You'd have to be an idiot to take the Michigan job now. If Miles had a brain in his head he would stay at LSU for three more years with the talent he has coming in and then go to Michigan when they fire the coach they are about to currently hire.
Michigan is two coaches away from returning to prominence. They have to completely rebuild. The coach they hire now, based on their impatience with Rich Rod, will be gone in three years.
Miles should be savvy enough to know this, but I guess we'll see.
Having said that, if Miles thinks a Michigan program in disarray > than an LSU program at or near its summit, I say don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

LSU is bound for a BCSNCG next year.. why throw that away? I understand about the unappreciated fans.. but they are EVERYWHERE!!!

It seems like 4 coaches can handle the stress of the SEC: Spurrier, Richt, Saban and Nutt
The rest quit/retire/get fired/move on

You might be answering your own question. I'm not a fan of Miles the coach, but if he takes the Mich job, I will ROTFLMAO!

i like how LSU winning the NC next year and michigan sucking arse for 3 years are basically known facts around here

I personally agree with the OP.If Miles takes Michigan he is commiting career suicide. It's well known that whatever he chooses is likely his last job because of his age and i have no doubt that Michigan is a 3-4 recruiting class rebuilding job and it's no guarantee that the UM fanbase will not have turned on him by then. He's an idiot if he chooses Um over LSU.Any coach would be.If he leaves good luck and best wishes but would lose a lot points with me regarding his intelligence.

You obviously dont understand economics and personal finance.
Miles is well on his way to personal wealth levels that few ever reach. He will get a raise if he goes to Michigan and he's an alum of Michigan.
If he goes to Michigan, it makes perfect sense for his family and his bank account.

quote:So the question at these levels of millions of dollars (his present salary at LSU versus projected hypothetical salary at UM or LSU) would be this: Does a coach with all this money like CLM already has coach for the money, or for the love of coaching college football?

Miles is already there. LSU has paid him, what, 12-14 million thus far? I don't know about you but I only make about half that.
And I don't think UM will give him a raise. He'll have to want to go there for other reasons than financial.

Are topics posed as questions the most retarded thing ever?

Just sayin.

On the flip side if he succeeds he will be the most sought after coach....

If he can bring Michigan to the level where he is leaving LSU, he can retire there. If he keeps LSU where we are, I am not sure the fans will be entirely happy with him.
I personally think the high expectations at LSU have factored in greatly in his decision.

This is not and will not be a "money" move....He will not have a want for material things the rest of his or his family's lives....The decision is, does he want to go home or not? In three years, if he doesn't succeed, and is axed, he's 60 and a multi-millionaire with his family take care of forever...AND had his dream job of coaching his alma mater...That reason, and that reason alone, leads to me to think, he is a gone pecan.....

Michigan is a state in great economic depression. UM will not be able to outbid LSU by a large enough margin to make a difference in the recruiting talent pool.
I don't think Miles has any NFL aspirations. He's not a PR/TV guy...ie, he can't speak coherent English. I think he'll stay at LSU where most fans can't speak English either.

reading all the threads maybe it boils down to how long he wants to coach- if he wants to be coaching more than 5 years from now LSU is the place
If he wants to coach only 3 -5 years and retire he goes to Michigan

Miles is not going anywhere. He is giving his Alma Mater a professional courtesy by listening to what they have to say. Thats just my opinion

Miles is 57 and had health problems in the past. I hope Miles lives to 100 like Joe Pa, but I would bet he is in the sunset of his career.
