Miles' dream job is Michigan
Michigan job is open
Michigan is his alma mater
I just can't see a light at the end of this tunnel that isn't lit Blue and Maize. Am I missing something here.
I know there are tons of posts like this but I need special attention because I'm slow.

But you know the mentality of a winning football coach. "I can fix anything"

Did you say this in 2007?

Maybe CLM changed his mind about what a "dream job" should be.

I look at it like this:
You started out working/interning your first 6 years at company X, a long standing and major player in the industry. They are the ones who made your career into what it is today.
Right now you're extremely happy at company Y, while not as old, it is currently one of the leaders.
You're going to be courteous and interview with company X no matter what.

Anybody who thinks he wasn't leaving in 2007 is crazy.

Agreed. He can go to Michigan and win 10 games a year and be a freaking hero. All he has to do is beat Ohio State, which he can do, and everyone will be happy!

Skip Bertman spurned Miami several times.

If Ryan Perilloux would have stayed out of trouble Les would have won 10 games those years. Having a freshman QB is a major curve ball to a program.

All would be hard to ignore, but...
The Michigan football program is not in good shape right now. Every recruit for the last 3 years has been recruited to run a style of offense that Les Miles would not be running. They don't currently have the type of players that a Les Miles offense needs. There is zero personnel on the defensive side of the football. The last three years have fostered an attitude of failure, and it will be hard to break with a new coach who doesn't run the system that the players are built for. The current state of college football does not give a head coach a few years to "right the ship". Not even Michigan, who was always loyal to its coaches. They just fired a coach after only 3 years. Who is to say that Les Miles would be treated differently?
Now, at Les Miles current job, you have a boat load of talent that Les Miles himself recruited. He knows each one of these players. They signed on to play for him. The program has been winning in recent years and things are set up for a very bright future. The recruiting has never been better, and with each win, more and more recruits stay interested.
Is it worth the risk for Les Miles to uproot his family, many of whom are of a age to only know Baton Rouge as their home, to take a big gamble at turning the Michigan program around against huge odds?
