Had 1 carry for 4 yards in the game last night. Thoughts? I hope he progresses and becomes a big part of our offense. We all know he has the potential to break one at any time. Looking forward to next year, (1) Do you think he gets more touches per game? (2) how do we get him those touches?

Has to catch the ball better.

I agree. Just wanted to see what everyone thought about the situation.

Catch the ball better for sure but heck the only time they threw to him last night he would have had to catch it with his feet.
Before the game started while watching the pregame I was like I sure hope RS has a break out night.... wasn't meant to be last night. Just the wrong type of game for RS to shine in.
I hope the coaches can see what they have in him and figure out a better way to get him the ball.

he is a completely unused threat. It's a sore spot with many fans. The kid is lightening and, in my opinion, we have not seen him yet, cameo appearances notwithstanding.

the kid got chased down from 10 yards behind by an Alabama DB that RR left in the dust a quarter earlier .. and he had the angle on RR .. Shep doesn't get touches because he doesn't produce ..

Wish he was a better fit but I'm just not convinced he's a WR or ever will be. Jarvis Landry is already heads above RS in this department and with Randle, tolliver, williams and some of our other young receivers I'm just not sure what he gives us at that position. I think we should be using him like a Reggie Bush scat back forcing LB's to cover him out the backfield. He's also shown his freshman year and on that he's not afraid to take a hit so let the kid play) filling Murphy's place. He can add some lbs in the offseason. Just a thought.

most of lsu fans have extremely high expectations for r.s. The bottom line is that he is not as phenominal as everyone thinks he is. They want to compare him to percy harvin and reggie bush but, he isn't as shifty as those types of players. yes, he is fast north and south, but his hands are very questionable. i do appreciate his loyalty and actions off of the field as an lsu ambassador, but people need to stop thinking that he will ever be an all american because he won't.

He averaged 7.1 yards/carry this year. If that isn't producing, what do you expect from him?

He's got to be able to get out in space more. Hasn't been able to do that. With a more talented quarterback, he might have had a better shot. Plus, he has to work on catching the ball. RS was highly-touted out of HS. Sometimes those kids who've excelled in HS get in college and suddenly the guys they're thrown into the pool with have the same skills. Maybe there has been a little of that. Ultimately, RS will have to decide. Will he fade away? Or make the effort to succeed.
I hope the latter.
But I'm excited about some of the younger players who did "break out" last night. Ware being foremost in my mind.

Shep is being screwed by this coaching staff. 32 carries in an entire year? Alfred Blue had 20.
And he's being forgotten and ridiculed by portions of the fanbase b/c he's not a combination of DeSean Jackson and Trent Richardson.

answer these. and all i need is a yes or no:
1- would you rather see shep as r.b. instead of ridley?
2- would you prefer shep at wide receiver instead of randle?
3- would you prefer shep as a punt returner instead of pp?

With ware, ford, boone and others, it wouldn't shock me to see shepprd become the forgotten mn on offense.
And to be honest, he hasn't done much with his opportunities this year.

Someone above mentioned "with a better QB", I agree. If our passing was such that defenses could not stack the box, there may be one less defender or a more spread-out defense that would be more vulnerable to Shep.

he is a bigger slower version of trindon. He will get his plays but everyone needs to quit thinking he needs so many touches because he is not going to be LaMichael James. Enjoy his passion for the game and his love for LSU! By the way does it seem like crowton calls great games in the bowl games to save his job every year. Last night's offense was off the chain!!

This...and with his speed we could utilize him with the bubble screens like we did when we had Josh Reed. That is where Reed was his most dangerous. We set him up with the short passes adn when we threw long he burned the DBs.

I saw something very interesting with him last night. On the first TD pass to Toliver they faked to him to the left and JJ rolled back and threw. Watch the D. They bit hard! To me, they should use him in situations like this more. The defense HAS to account for him a la Reggie with the Saints (no comparing their talents here) because when he's out in space he's dangerous.
So, my point is them doing this would allow for other receivers/playmakers to be out in space and open up the offense.
Thoughts?
