Usually I just turn the other cheek, but this is so stupid that it actually pisses me off. The majority of their write up is pretty acurate, but the two key things that strike me as ridiculous is giving the QB advantage to LSU and 100 times worse, giving the Coaching advantage to A&M. What in god's name would give not just one person, but a group of people, any indication that Mike Sherman has proven more during his tenure at A&M than Miles has at LSU?

Of course it's an insider article, and it was utterly ridiculous,

quote:

The Tigers have the deeper and faster team but won't win. Ridley will play, but the passing attack is too inconsistent to put a lot of points on the board against a Texas A&M defense that is playing at a high level under DeRuyter and has had ample time to prepare. A strong defensive effort will keep LSU close, but Gray's efficient running style coupled with Tannehill's willingness to spread the ball around will allow the Aggies to put enough points on the board to eke out the win.
Prediction: Aggies 21, Tigers 17

WAIT...they gave the QB advantage to LSU? You've got to be kidding me...

Texas A&M gave up 31 points to BAYLOR in 1 HALF...playing at a high level??? Holding Nebraska to a goose egg may look good on paper but I think the myth of their high powered running QB offense was exposed this year.

I did watch a few A&M games in person this year and when comparing them to the LSU games i'd say the ADJUSTMENTS made by A&M > LSU adjustments...

Happy GAME DAY!

Notes on that:
1) It was 30 points in about 25 minutes (not that it really matters).
2) We pitched a shutout and gave up ~150 yards in the remaining 35 minutes, which is something.
3) Baylor HATES A&M and it was on the road. They came roaring out of the gate and we had a few busted plays go for huge gains. Kinda like 2 of the TDs your defense gave up to Arky.
4) We simply had a bad half. You all gave up nearly 40 to a 4-8 Ol' Miss team at home. Does that make your defense sucky? Hell no, it just means that they had a bad day. Same with us against Baylor. They had a nightmare first 25 minutes and then proceeded to beat Robert Griffin and his OL into submission.

1 Other thing: our D held Oklahoma to 17 points on 105 plays. They averaged under 5yards/pass attempt and 1.6 yards/rush. We stonewalled them on 4th and goal inside the 2 3x in one game.

Our D is legit. It's not LSU 2003 badass, but they are physical, play hard, and our d coordinator is friggin brilliant. This shows in all of the statistical rankings.

That's understandable, no D has been.

Les' clock management has been amazingly bad. Also, this is the first year in 3 tries that Sherman has done anything at A&M, but he went ~60-30 as a head coach & GM (he had both positions at the same time) in the NFL, won a few division championships, and won a few playoff games.

He was a fairly successful head coach at the highest level. Not outstanding, and he probably was never going to get to outstanding (which is what Green Bay demands, but he was fairly successful.

Yea that defense was absolutely insane. They stonewalled everybody. We sucked arse that year, so it was sad to have to live vicariously through you all, but I loved watching you guys destroy Oklahoma.

The only other college D I've seen that looked that good was USC 2008. All 3 starting LBs (Cushing, Matthews, and Malaluga) drafted in the first 2 rounds. 1 goes on to win defensive rookie of the year, the other is probably going to win DPOY this season. Hell, two of the backup LBs were even drafted. Then they had Taylor Mays at safety (and he was an AA that year).

That '03 lsu defense was a joy to watch, regardless of school affiliation.

'03 LSU D = The college football equivalent of the 2000 Ravens defense.
