Is there some time warp in Oklahoma, where it's still January 3rd?

It's not the dead period, it's the fact that you aren't allowed to recruit Juniors off campus until they have finished their school year.

LINK

And yes, he violated the rule, and yes he knows it, and yes he has been doing this for years, and yes he will continue to violate all of these "minor" recruiting rules because he will never get anything more than a letter of reprimand.

It's his stock in trade.

He just loves to visit high schools in his spare time. Just don't expect him to visit yours unless you have a superstar underclassman that he can "bump into" and have the discussion mysteriously turn to how he sends kids to the NFL, which will conveniently open up spots on the depth chart at that position.

Well, more coaches should do it. There's nothing in the rules that can stop him, until coaches can no longer visit schools in the "spring" where a top junior might be. It's not illegal to sit down with their coaching staff, and look and film, inquiring about current seniors, and "bump" into a top junior they may have.

Considering there are quotes in various articles from a conversation much longer than "hello", there is plenty to nail his butt, but the NCAA won't do it even though some poor schmuck from a SunBelt conference team will likely be suspended at some point to show how tough the NCAA has become with secondary violations.

Not really. Sanders is only junior so it still isn't legal.
