Here is a great stroy my dad told me that I thought I would share with all the Tiger fans before Friday----
"Since the Tigers are
> playing the Aggies this week it reminded me of a funny thing that i witnessed
> in Tiger Stadium when I was a young boy. My Dad took me to the LSU/Aggie game
> in 1956 when Bear Bryant was still coaching the Aggies. Prior to the game two
> of the Aggie yell leaders were around midfield with the Aggie dog mascot
> Reveille. They were having her show off in front of the Tiger fans. About
> that time Mike in his cage was brought onto the field and was stopped behind
> the south endzone. The Aggie yell leaders noticed this and took the leash off
> of Reveille and sicked him on Mike. Reveille took off in a full run toward
> Mike's cage. At about the 10 yard line the mascot must have got a whiff of
> Mike and tried to put on her brakes and slid end over end into the endzone.
> Reveille finally got to her feet, tucked her tail between her legs and took
> off in a dead run north. The dog is probably still running away from
> Mike. The LSU fans went wild when they saw what was happening. This is
> still one of my many great memories in Tiger Stadium."
>
> Lets hope that the Tigers can win Friday. Geaux Tigers!!!

Why someone would sic a dog on a tiger is beyond my understanding.

Back in 1968, we took our dog, named "Brutus" because he was so big, over to the old tiger cage. At first, Brutus was oblivious of whichever Mike it was. Mike was staning close to the bars on our side, staring at Brutus like you or I would stare at a ribeye still on the waiter's tray.

Brutus looked up at Mike, then literally screamed and bolted away as fast as he could run! Yes, his tail was tuked, and no, he wasn't ever going to enjoy being on LSU property near that stadium again. We liked to never caught Brutus. Eventually, he allowed us to lead him in a BIG circle around the cage and back to the parking lot that was at the NW corner of the stadium. Brutus did not settle down until the car was headed back to the East!

That was one mean tiger, that Mike. There was never any difficulty in pissing him off to roar at whoever was near his rolling cage while in the stadium. The cheerleaders had a microphone stationed at various points along his route. They'd hold it up near Mike, and he woald roar to beat hell! The crowd always loved it.

I am catching a flight out of Minneapolis in the morning...headed for Dallas. Me and my gf have great seats. Sec 238, row 3. I can't wait!!

Are they taking Mike to the Cotton Bowl this year? If so, I hope that Reveilie doesn't get close to him. Apparently, this Mike gets really agressive when he sees dogs and pets. That is why there are "no pets allowed" signs around his enclosure.
