Pretty much. Names like Petrino, Peterson and Harbaugh were being thrown out. It just seems to me that Muschamp is a downgrade from Meyer, while the others were a little bit closer to Meyer as far as being proven coachs. They obviously haven't won 2 titles like Meyer, but they are highly respected as head coachs. Muschamp is highly respected as a DC. Just IMO.

I understand your point, as they've all had HC experience. I do mention this though, most of these guys started as coordinators and then made the jump.
Stoops made the jump to OU straight from a DC and was quite successful. Same goes for Petrino at UL, Pelini at Nebraska, etc.
I think they were looking more long term. Get a young, up and coming guy that will be there a while and Muschamp fit that to a tee and comes from a pedigree.
