98% of those are just stupid bullshite ones.

Wouldn't surprise me really. He said he doesn't want to coach forever and he's dealing with unrealistic expectations on a daily basis

Edit: I haven't heard anything about this

What is unrealistic? Is it that hard to win the Big 10 championship?

they have reported, meaning, SELF REPORTED.

Tressel is as clean as they come. He is a great man. I hope he stays forever, but that's not happening.

I would be sad to see him go.

To bad his players aren't!!!! PRYOR is a FRICKIN JOKE!!!! I can see why the NCAA lets these guys play in the Sugar. Instead of an ARKIE win WITH them playing, It would be an ARKIE BLOWOUT if they don't play.

the article is a farce, I know JT. This article is a joke, zero credibility. He does not want to coach forever, but he would not put OSU a precarious situation stepping down in the heat of recruiting season. He will probably coach 3-4 more years and then just focus on the academics, and a associate athletic director position.

This was my thought as well.

I could see him doing this after he's done coaching. He's always stressed the importance of academics, and is a pretty sharp cookie himself.

I'm going to have to see another link to believe this story. Tressel has it made at Ohio State.

quote:

While at YSU, Tressel’s football program was investigated for major NCAA infractions. It was found that on numerous occasions during the period beginning August - September 1988 and continuing through the spring of 1992, a representative of the institution’s athletic interests, who was at the time a member and chairperson of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees, gave at least $10,000 in cash and checks to a football student-athlete for his personal use. In the fall of 1988, the athletics booster instructed the football student-athlete to contact a business associate regarding the use of automobiles. The football student-athlete contacted the business associate who provided the free use of automobiles to the eligible football student-athlete.

quote:

The university announced earlier in the afternoon that Smith had been suspended and would not play in the Dec. 29 Alamo Bowl as a result of a violation of team and NCAA rules and standards. Geiger said the university has petitioned the NCAA for Smith’s reinstatement for the 2005 season. Neither he nor Tressel would discuss the nature of Smith’s indiscretions. This announcement comes one month after ESPN launched an expose into the OSU program where Maurice Clarett and other former players claimed they were lavished with money and no-work jobs. However, Geiger said these allegations involving Smith do not relate to Clarett or any previous issues.

Youngstown State, Maurice Clarett, Troy Smith, and now Pryor, Posey, Herron, Adams...

Doesn't sound so squeaky clean to me.
