A previous poster said Ridley was being ruled ineligible because he was accused of cheating on a test.

Is the NCAA fricking serious? They sat on their asses and do nothing to Scam Newton when they KNOW he's a cheater, and now they rule Ridley ineligible because he MIGHT HAVE cheated on a test?

the NCAA

LSU ruled Ridley ineligible and then appealed to the NCAA for reinstatement. Its the Holidays. The NCAA offices are probably closed so his reinstatement wont be heard until next week or the first week of 2011. I believe he will be reinstated

Cam's appeal was complete in 24 hours.....what are the odds that Ridley's gets done in a week.....slim to none.

Don't forget the NCAA has also requested additional information about LSU's self reported violations.

With the Cam Newton situation, all you ever have to do is follow the money trail.

+1

The NCAA could not afford to lose the interest/money/sponsors is Cam was declared ineligible. They could give a shite about Ridley

Why would LSU have to appeal to the NCAA if they ruled Ridley ineligible?

LSU ruled him ineligible. Miles and Co. appealed to the NCAA to save face for Ridley and with some wishful thinking. The NCCA rarely overturn schools' own rulings. It wil lbe a miracle of they do here.

Innocent until PROVEN guilty. Without proof, making all those students drop a letter grade is about the most absurd thing, and ruling Ridley ineligible is beyond the most absurd thing. If I was one of those students, you can bet my attorney would be giving them a call. You're going to drop me a letter grade without proof of the claim I cheated. Yeah, that's not as weak as whipped cream.

Someone posted a quote in the other thread where Ridely all but admitted some wrongdoing. He apologized for putting himself in a compromising situation. And you can bet that statement is sugar-coated.

quote:

"It saddens me to announce that the NCAA has rescinded my eligibility to play football for LSU at the upcoming Cotton Bowl due to an academic violation," Ridley said. "While I question their findings and think that the punishment is harsh, I did put myself in a compromising position that I deeply regret.

As for LSU ruling him inelgible, I am ceratin they know more about the situation than the collective rant.

As crappy as this whole thing is, how's his backup? Here in the DFW area, I'm not getting any news and I gotta deal with all these Aggies here...

Speaking of the NCAA being an absolute joke and passing out violations as they see fit...
Below is a direct quote about why T. Pryor and other 4 buckeyes are not suspended for the bowl game even though they are not eligible to play the first 5 games next season.

LINK

"The players are eligibile for the bowl game because the NCAA determined they did not receive adequate rules education during the time period the violations occurred, Lennon said."

So can we just say Ridley wasn't given the proper rules on what is required in the classroom?
