Schedule Change to Fix the BCS

Let me start off with I do not want a playoff.
The biggest problem with the BCS is how to evaluate teams that have the same record but play completely different schedules? How does a 12-0 TCU compare to a 12-0 Auburn? To fix this, we need to address scheduling.
If the NCAA stepped in and scheduled two games a year for each team, we could get a much better feel for where each conference stands. For instance, for the next two years, the SEC would be matched up with the Big 12 and CUSA. The prior year's #1 SEC plays #1 Big 12 and #1 CUSA. The first year the even number SEC teams play at home against Big 12 and away against CUSA, and next year reverse. After those two years are up, the SEC gets the Big 10 and the MWC, or some similar type rotation.
SEC teams would still play their 8 conference games, 4 home and 4 away, then the two NCAA scheduled games, 1 home and 1 away, and then have 2 open dates to fill themselves. So a team could get 7 home games each year.
This would give everyone a chance to see how the different conference stack up, and give at least a little basis help rank teams with similar records.

It's simpler than that....don't allow a small conference school to be ranked. Nobody goes to Boise State or TCU to win a national title.
I too am not in favor of a playoff, but I would change the fact that small conference schools should be ranked in the same polls as the bigger conferences. It's like an UFL team arguing it should have a shot to play in the Super Bowl. Two totally different leagues in my opinion.

16 team Playoff fixes everything.

I don't see how this fixes it at all. Right now it is pretty clear cut that you put 12-0 Auburn over 12-0 TCU because AU's schedule is much, much tougher than TCU's.
Things blow up when two undefeated teams both have legit schedules. It was a problem when AU's schedule was almost as tough as USC and OU in 2004. It wasn't a problem when Cincy and TCU got left out last year.

and waters down the regular season and non conference scheduling. If LSU gets the job done and goes undefeated, then why should they keep giving lesser teams chance after chance after they've failed.

Your 12-0 darlings TCU would be 9-3 tops with an SEC sched. If they had to play 8 sec teams in a season ... they would have a tough time and if anyone got hurt on the team then the Depth chart problems would surface!

Am I the only person that thinks the BCS has been right for putting #1 vs #2 just about every year?
The only time there should have been any issues is when OU played in '03 and Auburn being left out when undefeated. This is still way better than leaving it up to voters after the year is over (no BCS system).

That is a garbage idea. Either change the system to give the non bcs conference schools a chance or move those schools to a different level.

BS. High School and pro games are just as exciting in the regular season. I think it makes the season more interesting since a team that has 3 losses and is currently not in the running for NC still has a chance. There will be more schools fighting for playoff spots and so makes the regular season games more important for more teams. Then in the playoffs, TCU and Boise would get to prove their case rather than have a computer programmers determine the victor.

your ideal 16 team playoff solves a few problems, then creates a ton more.

No they are not.

A playoff is the only FAIR way to do it.
Its not fair to smaller schools that dont have the money to pay the big name coaches that those kids cant compete for it all. That should never be pre - determined and it is.
I love LSU and understand that a playoff system would hurt big programs like LSU & bama et. but it is the only fair way.
As it is now the big programs are merely farm teams for the NFL. Minor leagues if you will. How can anyone be surprised by camgate under the current system.

im in favor of a plus-one game. unfortunantly in college athletics, it will always be the haves and the have-nots. theres no equality in any sport. not pro baseball, not pro basketball, not even salary-cap, profit sharing NFL.

I realize the schedule change wouldn't cure all the ills, but it would give everyone more common opponents to help make comparisons, and it would make for very entertaining cross-conference games. Almost like mid-season bowl games. Look at some of the matchups for next year (just using the SEC, Pac 10, Big 10, and Big 12):
SEC-Pac 10-Big 10-Big 12
Auburn-Oregon-Wisc-Oklahoma
Arkansas-Stanford-Ohio St-Nebraska
LSU-Washington-Mich St-Oklahoma St
S Carolina-USC-Iowa-Texas A&M
Bama-Oregon St-Illinois-Missouri
Miss St-Arizona St-Penn St-Baylor
Florida-Arizona-Michigan-Kansas St
Georgia-Cal-Northwestern-Iowa St
Tenn-UCLA-Purdue-Texas Tech
Kentucky-Wash St-Minnesota-Texas
I realize some of those games would be clunkers, but imagine Florida going to the Big House. Oklahoma going to play at Auburn. And imagine th excitement if, not only did you own National Championship hopes ride on that game, but the overall conference's status also was on the line.
I know it will never happen, but I think this plan would help, at least a little, in the rankings, and also create some darn good football games that face it, given the current system, we only get at bowl time.

What is fair about a team being mediocre all year long and then saying, "just win a few games in a row, and you are the National Champion"

Nah. When the Saints lost to the Ravens I wasnt happy about it, but I know the Saints are going to the playoffs either way.
And I havent cared about high school since I was in high school.

nice idea.
However, you are forcing conferences to schedule teams which do not have equal facilities. Normally, LSU hosts Troy, not the other way around.
Your method would cost SEC schools home games and money.
I would rather have a 4 team playoff. Its just one extra game.
We could use the Rose and Sugar for the final four.
Its unlikely you would have 5 undefeated teams.
We have three this year.
