Just because I know the level of fanaticism on this board that I love so much, does anyone have some researched info on the success rate of Juco players transferring back to major programs vs regular recruits. I mean Cam Newton has set the bar pretty damn high both figuratively and monetarily. It would seem in theory that ZM should be more prepared this coming year than a straight up freshman coming in right??

Hey dick, I'm not from here. I am just currently stationed here, and no, I don't play world of warcraft. If any of your ridiculous posts had and substance to them, you would not be getting attacked the way you are. Brighten up and you may get a little respect around here. Now, go back to where you fricking came from. arse clown...

I'm not sure it would be worth the effort to research the statistical success rate of JUCO players. But it might not be a bad idea to go consider the broad premise that the cream rises to the top. Someone who succeeded at the high school level and earned a scholarship at UGA; who then developed enough to be in contention for a starting spot (not saying he would've won the starting spot at UGA); who then not only earned the starting spot on his JUCO team, but led them to the juco NC game, is someone who has shown either great talent... and/or an ability to continue to develop his game with different teams and different circumstances.
To answer your question in another way, experience is the best teacher (***as long as you are willing to learn from your experience). The fact that Mett has had meaningful playing time this past year with and against players who are generally better than high school players should only help him-- especially if he has the mentality of a student who is always trying to learn and improve.
Not saying he will have half the impact of Cam Newton (... how many players do), but at a quick glance, the fact that he keeps succeeding on the field is encouraging.

QB is an intellectual position. Most good QBs make it into school and don't have to go to Junior College. Mettenberger going Juco had nothing to do with Intellect.
Josh Heupel, transferred from a JUCO to be name the starting QB for Oklahoma druing the 1999-2000 season. Was the Heisman runner-up in 2000, along with being named to the All-American team, voted the AP Player of the year, and won the Walker Camp.... Oh yeah, and led his team to a National Championship over FSU in the Orange Bowl... I would say that he had "big-time success".
Colt Brennan from Hawaii was pretty successful.
Cam Newton Auburn no need to say any more.
Matt Simms at Tennessee may turn out pretty good.

It is hard to get straight answers around here... not that mine was definitive in any way. I only suggested a framework as to why I'm hopeful that ZM "can/might" be further along in his development.
