Al Woods went from a virtual unknown to a 4th round pick
Drake Nevis went from the 6th round to a 1st -> early 2nd round pick

Assuming he stayed health the entire year, and assuming that he was able to learn under Brick, imagine the career that Dorsey would have had.... better than Suh, maybe?

In any case, we have Sam Montgomery returning next year, Adams and Mingo rotating the way they should have been this year, and plugging in Josh Downs and Mike Brockers on the interior... then add in the Freak as well as Copeland and Ferguson...

This shite is going to be SCARY in years to come.

??

Woods was a 5 star recuit. Second ranked DT coming out of high school.

And then faded into the depth chart and into oblivion. You really think that he was on scouts' radar before his senior season?

Did you watch his senior season? I think he stayed in oblivion.

Wasn't Dorsey drafted in the top 5? AND won a ton of awards in his senior season at LSU? I can't see how he could have done much better than that

What I'm proposing is the transition from an elite DT to an utterly unblockable force. Think of Suh's 4.5-sack performance against Texas as a point of reference.

after Wood's jr year Todd McShay was projecting him to be a top 4 pick.

Todd McShay

is a dumbass. He doesn't know what he's doing and many NFL scout's agree.

He was all over Andre Woodson's balls after 2007 and had him 1st overall at one point. Where'd he get drafted? 6th round and has been out of the league.

Him putting Al Woods at top 4 also shows the same deal.

McShay also has Tebow top 10, and D. Byrd and Ciron in 1st round. What a joke.

Brick is barely better than Earl Lane..... And a breathing human could out coach Earl Lane. Our Defensive line is in grave trouble unless we make some serious changes. We were DLine U....But the Coaching goes back to Pete Jenkins. He was here Sabans 1st two years, then when he went to the Eagles Bo Davis (Bama's DLine Coach who Pete Jenkins Trained was a GA)....when Saban left Miles. Hired Karl Dunbar who Coached Kyle Williams, and the boy from Bastrop, after than we hire Lane but Jimmy Brumbaugh (Current DLine Coach at Syracuse was Lanes GA) and Dorsey, TJackson play for him (Brumbaugh)h....then we had a horrible year with Brick solo....but this year we let Assist S&C Coach Derrick Leblanq Coach DLine on the field with Lane (Lablanq is yet another Jenkins guy) and we have great development with the young payers and our 2 Sr DT's (Nevis was great/Pep was solid considering he added 40 lbs during the summer).....Now you mention Fat Al Woods, after the completion of his Sr year after only having Brick to work with he was an un-draftable mess but who saves his arse before the Combine and Pro Day.....Well the man himself Pete Jenkins had started preparing DT's for the NFL Draft after retiring from the Philly Eagles when he Coached so well he was selected to the Pro Bowl the previous season. Inb fact Pete prepared 16 DLineman for the draft last year....15 were drafted. One in the 1st Rd, several in second rd. Al, ect.....

There is a good chance we will lose Derrick Leblank to another school offering a top DLine job to him.....if we do we screwed.

Pete Jenkins has been very involved in Booger McFarland, Chad Lavalais, Kyle Williams, Bastrop Weedsmoker from 05', Dorsey, TJackson, and even Nevis.....every All American DT we have had since Dumnardo....what we need to do is go hire one of Pete's boys and let Pete work with them to make sure they are the best Coach at what HE DOES...which is Hands, Hips, Stricking Power, 2 Gap, and Get after your arse DLine play.

A subject I actually know something about-
