The TX legislature won't let us split up. It became very political. Frank the tank had a good article on it.

UT alum probably are not just concerned about loosing the long standing rivalry, but also that A&M would then have a much better hand in the recruiting wars in Texas.

Mack Brown goes into that 5* recruits home and says come to UT and play in places like Waco and Norman OK, etc and Sherman goes into that same recruits home and says come to A&M and play teams like Florida, Alabama, Georgia and LSU...

As an old man we played T-A&M the first game every year when they were still in the SWC. Had some great games. I enjoyed the series as it became a rivalry game every year.

it would also hurt LSU's recruiting in TX...instead of going to LSU from UT they would go to TAMU from UT...
