The only "Dandy Don" I know in sports is Don Meredith. I wouldn't have thought of anyone else. RIP.
And off the top of my head, I don't know who the frick Don Long is. I'm an LSU fan. So who the frick is Don Long?

quote:yes. but i don't live in Louisiana anymore. and I don't have the the patience to spend much time on the Rant. I guess I have heard of the other Dandy Don - he's a talk show host or recruiting guy or something. I honestly had no idea my post would be mistaken for him.
and your an lsu fan?
Regarding Don Meredith. He was a great QB for the Dallas Cowboys, inducted into the Ring of Honor. He was the QB in the infamous "Ice Bowl" game in Green Bay. He went on to become a color commentator with Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football, for which he won an Emmy. Before ESPN, kids like me would tune in to Monday Night Football to see the halftime highlights. I can still remember only having three channels to watch on TV, and no internet. So Monday Night Football gained great pop culture status in the 70's - and Dandy Don Meredith was essential to that. Quite frankly, he's a legend - even people who hated the Cowboys loved him on MNF.
