I didn't realize MSU's DC is the son of the Mayor (former) of Miami.

quote:

CORAL GABLES — The University of Miami's search for a new football coach shifted away from Jon Gruden and toward Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and other candidates Wednesday following Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt's morning meeting with Gruden in Tampa.

Mullen now appears to be at the top of the list.

Mullen, 38, is 13-11 in two seasons at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are 8-4 this season, with a win at Florida, where he won national titles in 2006 and 2008 as an assistant coach. Mullen began coaching under Urban Meyer at Bowling Green, and then followed him to Utah and Florida. Mullen's base salary is $1.2 million a season, but his contract has built-in incentives. MSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is the son of former Miami mayor Manny Diaz.

Why do Ole Miss fans seem more interested in the Mullens situation than State fans?

Has Ole Miss really reached the point where the only way it can compete with its in-state rival is to hope their coach leaves?

It is funny to watch the desperation coming from Ole Miss fans.

This morning on the radio Dan Mullen called Casey Kasem and requested that he play Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" as a long distance dedication to Colonel Toddy.

Miami switched to Mullen because Gruden told them he was the coach in waiting at LSU.
