LSU recruits as much top talent at Safety as any program.

So why have we underproduced in that area as regularly as we have the last couple years?

Not being developed? Poor scheme? Cooper not as good with safetys as he is with corners?

Poor coaching or stupidity. You know Arkansas is going to throw deep with seconds left on the clock.

Even Lord Saban, the defensive "guru" let it happen against Arkansas & Iowa when we had the game won.

Why LSU doesn't play deep in these situations is a mystery to me.

true, but he got some solid productivity out of guys like Robbie Green last year

Certainly no Hatcher-like flops in the Bama secondary

any lapse of defense that we have I blame squarely on our inability to sustain drives on offense. Imagine if you had to run your arse off, every play for 40 yards or more like our safeties do. They get tired, worse when the backups are injured. Good QB play and sustained drives will make our defense MUCH better. we have solid talent back there, besides hatcher of course. he blows.

In the hogs game, if just ONE of the two players that ran into each other, had gone for the tackle instead of trying for the ball, ....hog player gets his legs taken out...NO SCORE...both went high, and ran into each other....oh well, shite happens...

What he said...

This has been one of the few (occasional) complaints I have had regarding our Defense. We seem to have a tendency to go for the big hit in open field situations rather than simply rapping them up and bring them down.

Steltz was a senior before he became great. Loston is a freshman.
