You do realize our offense is in the 90's and our defense is or was number 5. If the offense can't stay on the field the d will get tired.

Yes, our famous 3 and out offense and our famous go for field goal offense with 1st and goal at the 3 yard line will kill our defense every game. Prime example Arkansas game.

I agree the chief is not the problem our players have got to make those plays Hatcher no excuses tryin to take heads off when all he has to do is wrap up no body hurt if he wraps up but I still don't see why his arse is back on the field after 2 weeks off piss poor play!!!!

Great defenses don't get tired or ever give up more than 21 points....
How dare you you reason on the rant.
Totally agree with you. A few terrible plays by your safety and a horrible offense will kill any defense.

We just don't have good tackling technique. I suppose that falls on Chavis, but my gosh, we had guys in position the whole game to make plays and they either whiffed or just got ran through because they hit the guy too high. Why in the hell can't we hit and wrap the legs like everyone is taught in pee wee football. I just don't get it. The basic tackling technique just sucks.

Honestly only complaint I had yesterday was no prevent at end of half. If we hold them their it was a tie game at the end.

He fits in well with the rest of the staff. Nothing makes sense most of the time.

Chavis = good but not great DC. Plain and simple.
Last year's defense was actually better as of right now. It gave up less points and faced offenses just as tough.
Last year, defense gave up yards but tightened up in the redzone.
This year, defense gave up less yards, but was a revolving door in the redzone.
This year they gave up tons of huge TDs.
97 yard TD pass
49 yard TD run
70 yard TD run
50 yard TD run
65 yard TD pass
85 yard TD pass
80 yard TD Pass
39 yard TD pass
So in 12 games, we've given up:
8 TDS of 39 yards or longer
7 TDs of 49 yards or longer
5 TDs of 65 yards or longer
4 TDS of 70 yards or longer
3 TDs of 80 yards or longer
That's bad. Very bad given the number of shitty offenses we played all year.

Well said a good defense can only bail out an bad offense so many times before they just give out. They put the offense in great position to take over that game and they just didn't do it but I am very proud of the team this season and I hope they finish strong with their bowl game.

And if we had average qb play we would be undefeated.

That is an extremely big assumption too. Some of us see what Chavis is. He's a good but not great DC that is completely dependent on his talent. He's not going to out scheme anyone and has absolutely no idea how to defend a true spread option team.

So if we had an offense ranked 50 instead of 90 our record would not be better?

What about UF in the 90's ?

I agree that the horrid offense has put an enormous amount of pressure on the D but the collosal failure at the end of the first half is completely on the D and Chavis. Not having the D positioned in a hail mary style D on that play is one of the biggest foul ups I have ever seen.

Clairborne was trailing the reciever and Hatcher was the only one back. Even Hawthorne prior to the play being snapped was asking where the heck the DB's were. PP was on the other side of the field covering a reciever and Eric Reid was about 15 yards behind the play. The players should have been positioned deep and told no one gets behind you.

As Tennessee's DC while Spurrier was at UF, UT was a resounding......drum roll........:
2-5.
Yup, he figured out Spurrier consistently. In 2001, his defense gave up 32 to UF.
His only true success against UF was when Zook was there.
