Zack Mettenberger

So I know there is so much built up hype about Zach Mettenberger, but what makes him stand out so much. What makes him any different than the pro-style quarter back that we have in Lee. I looked him up on rivals and his stats didn't seem to be that great. Jarrett Lee was rated better out of high school and had better stats. I'm not trying to shoot Mettenberger down, I would just like to know what is so great about him. Thanks for the help guys!!

the way i see it with Mett, he beat out Murray for the starting job and UGA, and Murray could have started here as a true freshman as well. so, he's better than our 2 QBs

Yeah, that is true. I was just wondering if anyone had seen him play or why he is so highly talked about?

He is lighting it up at the JUCO level and that's tougher than high school

Simms beat out Tyler Bray at Tennessee and look were that got them. Just because Mett beat him out in fall or spring practice, doesn't mean shite.
We need a damn QB coach and competent OC.
ETA: P. Ely will be ready to take the reins in 2012 if that happens.

High school matters for shite...
Lee has had his chance at LSU and hasn't accomplished much..
Mettenberger has not had a chance but potential is a tricky beast..

He didn't beat out Murray. He was in contention for the job and had a good spring game, but he was never the starter.

He has completely dominated this year at Butler, which, while not D-1, isn't high school. That doesn't legitimize him as a bigtime QB, but it does make it less likely that he'll be another 5-star high school flop.

UT took Simms because all they had was a freshman in Bray. Not exactly the sam situation.

We are taking Mettenberger beacuse all we have is Barrett Bailey and Stephen Rivers in 2012

We are taking Mett because we have Lee and Jefferson returning.
And Barrett Bailey is the truth. Tyler Bray comparisons are unfair to Bailey.
