Offseason changes at UT

What are people proposing Texas change in the offseason?
Mack Brown deserves a mulligan, he's recruited RBs terribly the past few years, but that changes with Malcolm Brown imo. Obviously our O-Line has to find it's physical side again.
Greg Davis needs to go if GG is going to be good, possibly great. He does not know how to run a pro style system. I'm not backing Major for OC, he hasn't done too well with the run game.
The offense of course must be adjusted. If Malcolm Brown is all he is cracked up to be, the I formation may be the way to go with Cody Johnson at FB.
Muschamp's D is VERY good, it just stays on the field too long during games because of our stale offense. Anybody calling for Coach Boom's head is an idiot.

I don't think Greg Davis should get the boot, but I bet he does. Who would Texas bring in? If they fire him it's going to put them in the same position that they were in this season. An offense trying to learn a new system and relying on their defense to win them ballgames.
Texas' biggest problem, IMO, is they have no leader on offense. It looks like 11 guys out there going through the motions. Noone on offense shows any emotion or anything. They also need a big time receiver and get rid of Malcolm "Dropsies" Williams.

first you have to decide what offense you're going to run. if you want to remain more of a mccoy-style spread, this isn't as needed (neither are RBs). it doesn't seem like GG is that kind of QB
if you go pro-style, like pre-vince, there is going to have to be a complete overhaul of the OL, both in terms of talent, mentality, and intensity
UT goes through these bumps when you change your QB regime. it took a year or so for mack to let vince be vince. it took 2 years for the offense to fully adjust to colt (he had a great freshman year, but his sophomore year was meh) and get to title-winning levels
davis or no davis, your offensive coaches need to find the right identity for your QB, OL, WR, and RB. then it needs to ensure everyone is on the same page. your offense was just all over the place this year, and it hurt everyone

Muschamp isn't going anywhere, I agree with that.
Davis is definitely going somewhere. If lsu fires crowton, you can bet ut and lsu both go after DH at ok st pretty hard, but lsu may go for a pro-style OC instead. I'm not sure DH makes a lateral move in the same conf unless ut throws tons of money at him.
I could be way off with it, but I just think with his track record and history already in the state of texas, he's the most likely candidate for both schools.
Steve Adazzio(sp?) May be looking for a job too

Greg Davis needs to go. I know Mack and Davis go back a long way but they need to part ways. The UT alums I work with have wanted him gone for some time now.

I think GD gets the boot. He just can't commit to any sort of a physical run game. Our line shouldn't be this soft. I'm not sure who they bring in to tell you the truth. But they have all offseason to learn the new system, and just getting physical again would greatly help the offense's learning curve.
GG definitely needs to step up and become more of a vocal leader. I'm definitely not going to miss Malcolm, Kirkendoll's loss kind of hurts, GG seemed comfortable with him. But with Marquise Goodwin and Mike Davis coming back, along with Darius White getting more reps I think the receiving corps is fine. Hopefully opening up the offense gives DJ Monroe more reps too, the kid is electric

mike davis has the ability and cockiness to give that offense some swagga

What offense is best for UT then? The spread is not the answer. I think Pro-Style is a good choice, but also maybe look at an I if Malcolm Brown comes in and dominates. I don't think the O-Line would have a hard time becoming physical again with enough commitment.
The boosters want Greg Davis gone, there's no way he survives til January

Yeah, Kirkendoll and GG seemed to find a little bit of a rhythm at times. I don't know that much about Monroe but the announcers last night were saying how athletic and electric he can be, but he fumbled on his only play I remember from the game. Mike Davis will be a really good receiver. He plays with some cockiness and maybe that's what UT needs. I'm interested to see what the offense will look like next year with a spread QB, and a downhill power back with Malcolm Brown (assuming he plays his freshman year).

i-form = pro-style offense

i dunno soft lineman have always been an issue at UT under mack

Finding an offensive identity and sticking to it is really the only answer. Do we want to be a spread 'em out, 4 WR set and hope GG matures that much (hopefully with the help of a developing run game) IMO, Mike Davis is exactly the swag our O needs. Or a downhill, feature back offense. And DJ Monroe is a game changing back that Davis has never committed too. He goes to him once a game on a jet sweep and that's the only action he'll get all game.
Again, I have large expectations for Malcolm Brown as you can tell.

This goes back to the commitment to the spread under Vince and Colt. I think it's possible to come out and have a plowing run game if Mack wanted it bad enough

I agree 100%. The way UT uses Monroe reminds me of the way LSU uses Russell Shepard. All that talent but they just can't find more ways to get him the ball. I have family that graduated from UT and they're all anxious and freaking out over this year and calling for everyone's head, which is ridiculous IMO. Everybody has a down year, no program is immune to that. It's the programs that bounce back from those years that make them elite.

That defense isnt even mediocre. Regardless of what the offense does.

This is the way I've always seen it, but LSU actually got the ball to Shep more this year. Monroe has that ability, just not the opportunity

Off topic question- If UGA comes calling for Muschamp to be their HC, does he take it IYO?

It depends on how close Mack is to being finished. If he still wants 2-3 more years, why not? His time is right now, he's earned the opportunity. But if Mack thinks he's done right now, who wouldn't want to coach at Texas where he can pick and choose his recruits, and not have to battle with Bama, AU, LSU, and UF for recruits
