A buddy left his Xbox 360 in my truck and Ive asked him a couple times what he wants to do with it and no response. So I wanna hook it up to the internet and go buy COD Black Ops. How much is it gonna cost to do this? Do you have to pay for Xbox Live? I've only dealt with ps3 before. I guess i would need to buy a wireless adapter because the router is downstairs and it has to stay there.

If you have a computer nearby, you can bridge the ethernet and wireless (in Network Connections), then run a CAT5 to the Xbox and it will use your computers wireless connection.

Yeah, you have to pay for Live.
You will also have to buy the adapter unless it's a new slim 360 with the built in wi-fi.

Xbox is so stupid how you have to pay for every little piece. I might as well just go buy a ps3.

Meh. To me it's still a lot less headache and drain on my money than PC gaming....

So take the 360 and sell it to a pawn shop.

Do this...you basically ctrl + click (to multi select) both network connections, then select Bridge Connections. Then use a CAT5 (ethernet cable) from your Xbox to your laptop, and it will use the laptops wireless connection to get online. After it bridges, give it about 1/2 minute for the connection to reset before the laptop gets internet.
Create a network bridge
A network bridge is software or hardware that connects two or more networks so that they can communicate. You can create only one network bridge on a computer, but one bridge can handle any number of network connections.
1.
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.
Hold down CTRL and select each network connection that you want to add to the bridge.
3.
Right-click one of the selected network connections, and then click Bridge Connections. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

I bridged the connection and when im testing the internet connection on the xbox it says it cant obtain an IP address from my router or modem. You know anything about that?

Can you get to the internet on your laptop?
Sometimes it takes a little bit (not more than 2 minutes) for the laptop to get the internet.
Also confirm you're plugging a cat-5 from the laptops ethernet port to the Xbox's ethernet port.
