Last year, I attended most of the LSU away games. In stadium after stadium, from hip Athens to genteel Oxford, they played techno during breaks in the game. I laughed. I mocked opposing fans mercilessly. I asked security guards if they were going to hand out glow sticks and bottled water. I wondered where the DJ booth was. I expected to see a lot of guys in Affliction T-shirts. I was suprised when there weren't stadium bathroom attendents to hand out mints and spritz unsuspecting bystanders with Drakkar Noir.

On Saturday I couldn't fly down to Tiger Stadium, so I watched the game on TV. What do I hear, much to my dismay and shame?

TECHNO in Tiger Stadium.

Sigh.

Is it true? Did it happen?

Now, perhaps I have simply been too inebriated at previous games to notice, but was this the first time they have played that dreck during a home game? I know we have pumped in music, but techno?

(BTW, I am not prejudiced against techno, house, electronica, hip-hop, rap, etc.. I like them all...at a club. Not in Tiger Stadium.)

It needs to end.

It was, which makes it all the worse. Next up, Zombie Nation.

They played it and it failed. I've seen it work at places like Penn State and Auburn, but it flopped this past Saturday in Tiger Stadium. I hope that was the last time they play that crap in TS.

I never thought I'd live to see both pom poms and sandstorm in TS.

They should have played the Sandstorm Shots mash-up. That would have been legit.

Although extremely ghey, that would look pretty cool.

Hmmm, less offensive, but still unacceptable.

If they are going to play hip-hop, at least choose an appropos song. Perhaps "Blame It On the Alcohol" accompanied by a slow motion clip of the man tumbling from the SEZ.

Or perhaps the band should do an instrumental version of Jaime Foxx's masterpiece.

A night, it actually would look impressive.

Of course, if you are going to hand out glow sticks, you have to hand out ecstasy as well.

Saturday was not a good day for TGBFTL.

The halftime show was beyond awful. The worst I can remember, in all of my years of following LSU football.

No more piped in music.

Let the band play.

You want the techno piped in music to stop in Tiger Stadium? Get the student section to sing obscenities when it's played. That should do it!

I actually remember going to Florida and listening to all their canned music in 2008. I thought it was pretty lame there and hoped that nonsense would never become so prevalent in Tiger Stadium. My hopes have been dashed. The music, and honestly the band, in Tiger Stadium, has been subpar this season. But then again, the band would probably be better if the administration WOULD LET THEM PLAY!!!
