i am 99% sure that the ole miss band played neck in the first half. is this something that they usually play, or were they rubbing it in our face??

and when did the ban on neck come down?? i dont remember it vs ULM but i think i do for bama.

Pretty sure I heard it from Ole Miss.

Haven't heard it from our band since Bama. I don't expect to hear it any time soon.

yup ole miss played neck. its actually not all that uncommon of a song. ive heard 3 or 4 schools play it (including UConn).

also, im not sure if neck is gone for good or not. we were told in the band that we just cant play it for now. they never told us when or if we could play it again.

ETA: this was the same for ULM

as far as i know we were asked not to play it for now. that is all we were told. we were not told who we were asked by or how long we couldnt play it for and/or if we could ever play it again

probably anchored for home games. allowed to be played at road games and bowl games when the student contingent is smaller.

i dont know what that deal includes but we havent been able to play it at basketball/volleyball games either.

i have a friend who went up to joe alleva and personally asked him what we can do to get neck back. i have no idea what joe's response was

Suck that tiger dick isn't the classiest thing for students to cheer apparently.

we cant hear that from the band area (which is probably why hey baby hasnt been cut yet). but i came home from a game last year and my dad and his friend came to a game and sat in the student section. his friend said "yea i really like that song where everyone goes suck that tiger dick bitch" and i had no idea what he was talking about

This isn't shocking and I'm not sure why the students were asking the band to play it at last night.

It would make sense just to play it at road games and the bowl game.

i just dont like how the students get pissed at either the students or the director or the band in general when we have no control over it. we would love to play it for you guys

We never got an 'official' word (or at least i personally never heard it) but from the body language of the directors, its flat out banned..

yet another great tradition gone - it was bad enough losing Tiger Rag and Wizard of Oz - now this. And what is that kind of lame substitute for Neck?

Coming from a student, I wish the student section wouldn't do stupid crap like that to get traditions banned. Tiger Rag? Nope. Neck? Nope. Ooh we ooh? Nope.

After the Bama win nothing was better than Neck. But those days are apparently over.

La Tech also plays neck. I actually heard them play it before LSU did.

I was told that there was talk about banning and a response to athletics was "if we start banning songs bc of the actions of others we will soon have to cut everything" guess talk is cheap bc we sure as hell put a ban on this. Either someone backed off or athletics pushed the bill and forced us to cut it. We're no longer in the loop as a student ran organization, its all ran from the top now.

yeah it got pretty bad
