and since there are more OL than DL, one of the OL gets to the second level and blocks 1 of the LBers.
theres 5 yards.
On the hand off, if the DE is blocked and the extra lineman get to the LBer and blocks him, there's another 5 yards.
IMO, the way to stop the spread is to confuse the OL's blocking assignments. Dont make it easy for the OL and QB to make a decision.
gotta gamble and play some man on the outside and blitz from the nickle and dime spots and have a safety come up to fill.
Disguise it well enough and i think youll have the advantage.
