8 team playoff seems to be a very popular option. Ohio State is 9th. Also if you give the top 4 seeds home games that would help with the issue of teams taking weeks off too.

This happens in the NFL too... and teams rest players once they have home field sewn up. There's no way around it... A playoff would kill the rivalry games at the end of the season.
